Did not know where to put this so mods feel free to move.

So my bros coworker got one of these a couple months ago. That's all find and dandy but they do a lot of manual labor and instead of just getting a beater for work he used this.

Anyways long story short he dropped it an the screen would now just light up in a few places. He is not one to deal with warranties so asked me to look at it. After some research I found that the ribbon under the fire button can cause problems. So I get it taken apart and find a small crack in the screen.

So if you are still reading at this point, does anyone know of a place I could purchase just the display? Also is there a difference between the display from the dna and the RX?

Thank You for any and all help

Travis

I believe Evolv sells the screens, but there has been a shortage lately. Might not be available at the moment. The dna200 and rx screens are different.

One thing to note, the RX200 has nothing to do with the DNA200. Different chip, different screen, etc..

That said, the cost of a screen + the hassle of replacing it and making it work properly is probably on par with the cost of a new mod (the RX200 sells for $50). I'd say just replace the mod entirely, unless you're looking for a DIY project.

There is not much to replacing the screen from what I have seen internally. But this is a DNA so unless it costs $75+ for the screen than I see it as being worth it. Although I do see your point.

Wait, they do make a DNA200 version of the RX200. Huh. Didn't know that.

Even still, the screen is generally sold attached to the chip for the DNA200. Evolv sells them on their website for ~60$ a pop, but they're usually back-ordered.

Like I said, it might be more trouble than it's worth to order the chip/screen and re-install it yourself. Kinda "doubling your losses" there because if you can't get it to work you now have a broken mod and a standalone DNA200 chip.

Yeah Wisemec makes them both on the same chassis. It looked like it was detachable last night but yeah the ribbon cable could be soldered in. All I have found so far is stuff for the DNA40. Any links on hand?

Edit: just found it. They want $80. Up to him now. Like you said though prices on mods nowadays you can get a good setup for that.

Yeah I mean it's up to them/you. It'd probably be an interesting project if you like that sorta thing.

I have a RX200 arriving today (not the DNA version). Was only 50 bucks, so I figure if I do something dumb and drop it I can replace it for cheap enough.

I meant the custom settings. Stuff beyond me as well. Need a bigger brain, or just more studying lol.

Sad to say, your friend may have just a tad more disposable income than common sense.
In this instance at least. :p

One thing few, if any, would call a DNA is a "knockabout" mod.

And about the only honest reasons for having one, and suffering through Escribe, are the ludicrously customizable display & interface, and the incredibly top-end Temp Control.

If he enjoyed the comfort of the Reuleaux enclosure... tell him to just get an RX, and call it a day.
$40 at VapeNW. :D

Agreed! He went straight from a mech mod to that. He didn't really do any research just jumped on the next best thing. Bandwagon BS.
