Greetings Reoville residents,

I bought a VV Grand with Reomizer :banana:. Kentastic is now processing the shipping to Montreal. It is purple, just like a Studebaker I owned during my formative years .

I choose a VV model because I have a positive bias for regulated vaping. I have a few mechs and rda's, (18xxx and 26xxx series), and found their regulated conterparts to be a more satisfying vape, ( easier ??). I still use my mechs frequently for the pleasures of variety. Reoville inhabitants seem to prefer the mechanical Reos by a large majority. Maybe I will have no choice but to get a mechanical model in the future.

Rob having stopped production of this model, I understood this choice may be a bit of a gamble. I saw on Reos forum that It could be changed to a mechanical if need be and that improved the odds.

Although the web is packed with reviews of Reos, searching for independant reviews of the VV Grand I found only one. It is not good. The reviewer was giving way too much weight to very minor aspects that he did not like.

I would appreciate if anyone would direct me to other independent reviews of the VV Grand, positive or negative does not matter as I can make my own mind about what is important to me.

In the meantime I will keep on searching Reoville with its wealth of information.

The REO itself is dead simple and at the same time elegant. Basically, the VV is a REO with a regulator chip installed. The idea was a good one, but as with many good ideas in concept, the reality was that electronics are basically prone to failure eventually.

Since Robert isn't in the electronic component business, that meant that he was selling something over which he had no control. I can only salute him for taking the position that he has, i.e., that he fully supports what he makes and sells, and won't sell anything over which he has no control.

You may not have found the thread about it yet, but Robert is going even another step further in the near future, planning on making a REO that is "kick ready", but also has the capability to be run as a pure mechanical, in the event of the kick failing. By all means try out the VV, especially since that seems to be your preference. But do know that eventually, there will be a REO you can run either regulated, OR mechanical, by simply swapping out the spacer.

To say Robert is a genius when it comes to this stuff is an understatement, IMHO. But add to that, the best customer service in the business, and his insistance on providing a reliable product, and you get something I doubt any other mod maker can even come close to.

ETA: Found the post about the kick ready grand HERE

Here is the manual: http://www.reosmods.com/images/usermanuals/grand.pdf

Here are the specs:
15 watts maximum power output
Wheel adjustable voltage dial
Improved battery life 2 x 's avg. , we have a new controller that is MUCH more efficeint. avg. 12 hrs per charge
batteries (16340 or 18350 type)
3-3 to 5.5 volt adjustment
Reverse battery protection
Over current protection
Over temp. protection

Robert says: The electronics meaning the vv chip has a 3 month warranty after that I will have to charge people for a replacement

BuzzKill said: THere is NO cutoff circuit built into the controller , it goes until the batts die

The first VV Grands had a small pin like inset push button. Robert later replaced them due to a high failure rate. Most you see have the round push button. He did the replacements for free. I am not sure if that still stands.

Hope this helps!

Tks, I can't wait for my first puff. It will be the first time I drip.

I have already contacted Rob to get a black door for Purple . He also mentionned that he can make it a mechanical if/when I wish. He answered my email in less than 4 hours ! That's remarkable and confirms what I read in Reoville. For now it will remain regulated.

I guess I will receive Purple once I get back from the motoGP in indianapolis....:)

You must have run across Field of Vapor's video review... Yeah. He used to get pretty worked up about stuff and seemed to like to insert himself in this or that controversy and occasionally create a controversy if there wasn't one already existing. I seldom found much to agree with him about... Though, honestly, he seemed like an OK fellow in normal discussions (my alter-ego on another forum conversed with him often).

Rip Trippers reviewed the VV Woodville, which is the VV Grand, but wood instead of metal.

Our very own Mudflap reviewed the VV Grand on camera.

Another of our very own MXBNW reviewed the VV Woodville . Here on ECF MXBNW is a super smart super helpful dude. I owe him more than one thanks for his time and effort posting info.

And, here is just one of the handful of written reviews in the reviews section here on ECF.

If you go here:http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/270331-free-reo-forum-thread-index.html and look under the Mod specific threads pre-sale & development; there are many threads on the VVG

I found the threads about the VVG, all three of them.

I finished reading the first,http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/289681-vv-reo-grand-i.html , all 1000 posts.

It is so much fun to read about the expectations and anticipation of the 2012 Reos addicts. That thread ends on the 19th of June 2012, just before the VVG's initial sale started and I could feel the frenzie building up.

I can't wait to read and feel the ecstasy in Reoville when they receive their VVG in http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/307194-vv-reo-grand-ii.html .

Reading the history of the VV Grand has been a great way to learn about it.

Edit: Correction : I just checked the link you provided and found that there are over a 12 links to volumous threads on the Reos VV. quite enough to keep me busy while I wait for the mailman :tumble: I'll be a know-it-all about VV Reos before I even touched one :D

Well, I just completed http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/307194-vv-reo-grand-ii.html . It ended on the day of the initial VVG sale. The actors were getting impatient. It was easy to feel the relief when everyone in the community were able to buy their first choice. The trepidation and apprenhension was obvious before the sale started, every one was afraid of a repetion of the initial sale of the VVW.

What realy impressed me was the presence, with support and encouragements, of Rob on the forum while the sale was actually going on. I understand how highly regarded he is by his loyal customers, The episode of Keepers' accident was very revealing of the solidarity of Reoville's residents.

Tomorrow I will attack http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/331310-vv-reo-grand-iii.html#post7173491 . I expect to will learn a lot about the use and technical aspects of the VVG as every citizen of Reoville report their first hands-on experience with the VVG.

Reading through the threads like you are must be like reading a REO novel!

I remember Keeker's accident. I think there were two threads with posts when that was happening. It was tough to keep up with everyone and everything happening so quickly. But in the end we made contact and nerves settled down.

I have been on the REO forum for over three years. So many times Reonauts have proved we are all family.

Glad to welcome you to the greatest place on ECF!

The new recessed button was a much appreciated design. Rob's great customer support was again beyond any normal expectations as the recessed button troubles started to surface. This issue was put to rest without any hesitation. My purple VVG has now reached LA and and still travelling on its way to Montreal .
