I think the reward points system is the best. - I like having a discount code for other vendors and it often at least covers shipping or shipping and a few bucks if it is 5 or 10% or whatever.... But the reward points racking up can sometimes mean the difference between being able to get something I want and having to wait.
Every automobile I have has decided to fail in some spectacular and expensive fashion in the last two weeks. head gasket... transmission... in-tank fuel pump... brakes... clutch... I'm down to the change on my desk and a few emergency bucks in my glove box until maybe 2 paydays from now before I have the autos sorted out.
But, a few hundred reward points racked up in my account meant I had just enough to take advantage of the fact VV boxes were in stock today without having to dig in to my lunch money or put my online-purchases credit card out to a possible over-the-limit when they calculate interest in the next few days.
The only thing that could be better is if I was earning reward points on stuff I bought with reward points.
