I have called and emailed my local rep who's on the ways & means committee. Have yet to hear back from him, but will continue to call every day. I also spoke with an aide to the W&M committee who told me that this bill isn't on the agenda for any meetings next week, yet, and will probably come before the entire committee week after next.

Also my 70yr old aunt, a wonderfully forceful woman and a grateful vaper, is after her local rep who's also on the W&M committee and one of the sponsors of this travesty.

My local rep is also a sponsor of this bill :( I have called, emailed and also have letters ready to mail. I know for a fact that there are alot of vapers in SC. No clue why they are not jumping in here to help. Unless they just don't know yet.

Many of us are calling, writing, emailing, and have been spreading the word of this bill and asking for others' assistance through other social media as well via private contacts—we ARE helping even if we haven't been posting here :)

That's the one thing that I keep trying to keep in my mind...
That there are more people out there doing things than I realize...

Because when it doesn't seem like anyone cares, it gets hard.

Tax writers chasing smokers, even fake ones

Well, if their bill is modeled after the one in Oklahoma...
South Carolina's bill, White says, is modeled after legislation in Oklahoma, which passed its Senate but has not passed in the House.
Perhaps they should take another look at what's happening in Oklahoma.

Update posted by Vapingzone elsewhere:

"Our Lobbyists just informed me that H. 4074 has been added to the agenda on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 for the Full Ways & Means Committee. Anyone in South Carolina that is available, please try to attend. We will need you to come to the Blatt Building on the State House grounds by 2:30 p.m. The Full Committee does not hear testimony. We are hoping that the testimony given at the subcommittee meeting, the letters, emails, phone calls and our Lobbyists efforts to educate the Legislators on the issue will be enough for them to table it for now. njoy has sent a letter and so has the Americans for Tax Reform. Altria, another cigarette company, has come in to oppose the bill, also. The South Carolina Vendors also have a letter that is being decided upon language and participation currently and we hope to have that to the Legislators early on Tuesday before the hearing. Our Lobbyists will hand-deliver them. I will continue to keep everyone posted here. Please think good thoughts for us on Tuesday!"
