rip trippers: vapetrik

Since I enjoy watching rip tripper's YouTube vids, I thought I'd give his 6 pack sampler a go. I'm disappointed to say I was not at all happy with this line of juice.

I picked melon thumper, nanas cream, lemony lime, blueberry custard, awol, and ms trippers. as a point of info that doesn't really have anything to do with the juice, I'm using an ss nemesis and a plume veil 1.5 both authentic, and I swap between an LG and vtc5 18650.

As for the taste of this juice, it's pretty good. Flavor is a bit understated in general across the board, but none of it was terrible. The nanas cream especially had some very deep flavors of bananas and cream. With these particular juices, however, I got an extremely hot hit to the back of the throat that would even translate into pain in my lungs if I took a large enough drag. I prefer a warm vape, but this was simply uncomfortable and not a good vape imo.

At first I tried the juice and wasn't exactly positive what to think. I let it steep for the reccomend time and came back to it and vaped it for around a week. The main thing I noticed, especially with the lemony lime and nanas cream, is that it turned my cotton DARK black after just a day of vaping which totals for me maybe an hour and a half to two hours of fairly consistent vaping accumulated throughout the day. I work in education so I don't have the option to casually vape throughout the day.

What was most concerning is that this black color came from a clear ejuice. I understand dark colored juice will cause the cotton to take that color, and that over time cotton will inevitably become dark and saturdated. But this happened far far more quickly than I've ever seen with any other ejuice.

Furthermore, I spent the entire week feeling very congested and phlegmy. Having been sick the previous week I thought it was my cold hanging on, but after picking up some different ejuice from my local b&m yesterday, my congestion is almost completely clear now.

The reviews on his site say that it's spectacular juice. I know vaping is subjective, but we're talking hundreds of five star reviews calling it the bbest juice they've ever had and the only juice they'll ever vape again. I sent an email to the company asking about the blackening cotton and I've heard nothing as of yet after 3 days.

Has anyone else had this experience with the vapetrik line? I wanted to like this juice I really did, but overall I was very disappointed and I wish I would have gotten a single bottle rather than Investing in a whole 6 pack of juice that is in my opinion, pretty ho-hum.

I made the mistake of getting a sampler too and now I have very little interest in buying from them again. I also invested in more than usual because of the insane amount of 5 star reviews that convinced me I'd be buying from them forever. Nice to know they're probably hundreds of the good reviews that didn't get deleted like the thousands of bad ones I'm assuming did.

That's exactly what my cotton looked like also. I know this thread is super old now lol but I never did hear back from them and my review never posted to the page. Pretty poor form on vapetriks side. Coming from someone like rip I was expect so so much more. Pretty discouraging. For the time being I'll stick to my local b&m for juice.

The OP did mention that his main concern was how clear the juice was...

Whether the juice is clear or not, the sweetener will turn the cotton black over time, the same way the black gunk will build up on the coils. I'm pretty sure it is from the sweetener caramelizing?
Yeah... I get that. The OP stated that his juice was clear but darkened... the reply was that Dark Juice will do that.... I was just pointing out the juice was clear!

Unflavored, unsweetened juice will also turn the wick dark eventually. I don't think there is any way around it unfortunately... :)

Eventually is the key word in this statement. I mix my own unflavored at 90% VG and 10% distilled water and it takes me a week minimum before I need to switch out cotton and dry-burn the coil. The OP said it took him a single day before needing to switch out. That's bobas-level gunkery.

OP, it's hard to say exactly what's causing the gunk. Juices with sweetener added do indeed gunk coils faster than those without, but most of the gunk comes from the flavor concentrates being used. I've never vaped RiPs line of juice, but I'd venture to guess that he's using 'dirty' flavorings. By dirty, I don't mean he's using questionable ingredients or that he's not mixing in a sanitary fashion. That would be highly disrespectful and off-base.

What I mean is that he could be using flavorings which need to be used at higher %'s and which generally gunk coils faster than 'cleaner' concentrates, either due to the higher %'s needed or due to a high concentration of inherent sugars in the concentrates. Flavor West, some TFA, and some Cap flavorings comes to mind.

I definitely understand how just about any ejuice will eventually gunk your cotton. but having it happen so quickly, imo, isn't normal. I've never had anything even close to that happen with any other juice I've tried. Also, in my experience, cotton that turns colors due to normal use usually turns a shade of brown. In this case it was black, and I'm positive I didn't burn the cotton.

I see what you're saying. I didn't know about any of that though. That's likely the issue. I've been thinking about starting to mix my own juice, the money I would save would be ridiculous lol.

And that's just in the OP's home town.
That's for sure lol. that's the good thing about living in so cal vape shops are everywhere! I dunno if anyone here is in the so cal Santa Ana area but my normal b&ms are south county vapors Tustin and vape & co! Awesome juice and customer service at both of those spots!

I read a post "all ejuices will gunk your coil," well here's a surprise for ya all that I have tried, none of hangsens will gunk your coil and now at about ~50 tried flavors while not the best tasting in some, they vape clean.. My own homemade e juices also vape clean, if you use a lot of vg, certain brand vg's, your gonna get gunking.

Surprising rip does not know this about vg yet, certain vg's kill atomizers.
Many flavors gunk, specifically tobacco's, but hangsen has figured out a way to stop this with his tobacco of which I have almost tried them all and not one of them gunks..

I make my own ejuice 80% of the time and found this out by trying many different brands at the same %'s and the resulting differences..
I wont out of respect for companies who figure it out list gunking vg's but there's a toss up, most gunking vg's are he lla sweet and offer a boost in sweetness..
Meh I like the no gunk add a little sweetener approach. I think they also copy paste other recipe's that use EM and too much extract and do not know the sweetener that doesn't gunk too lol..
