I'm having a few problems these last couple of days with my new Riva 501. I fill the cart until I see saturation at the top, then, when I vape, usually three or four second blast with a slow drag, I'll quite often get a faint yet harsh almost burnt irritation in my throat on the exhale, usually more towards the end than the beginning. It lingers a little. At first I thought it was not enough juice, but that doesn't seem the case, as the cart is so full I often get juice on my lip. This after taste only goes if I take a much slighter and less satisfying drag, so slight there's almost no throat hit or taste.
Also, bizarrely, I still seem to get the juice on my lips when the cart seems empty, producing no vapour. There's also a sound like there's liquid bubbling in the cart when I draw, even when it's empty.
The kit came with two atomisers, and this happens with both of them.
Basically, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, either over filling or under filling, or filling the wrong way (I drip), or dragging too much or too little.

Anyone got any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

sounds like your carts arent wicking right or you burnt out your atty. try taking the stuffing out of the cart cutting about half to 3/4 of it off filling the cart about 3/4 of the way up with juice then putting the filling back on so it's flush with the top. did this to some carts on my riva 901 and completely got rid of this problem
the atty could also be flooding causing the little vapor production, try blowing it out and dropping a couple drops of liquid on it before vaping it again

Do you have a Riva 510 or Riva 901? In either case, it sounds like the carts are not wicking well enough. Try dripping a couple of drops directly onto the atomizer before replacing the cartridge. As for the gurgling, you may have liquid in the tip of the mouthpiece. take a paper clip or similar thin object and insert it into the hole in the mouth piece. Twist it sideways a little and you should be able to pop the tip off pretty easily. Under it is a little reservoir designed to catch the liquid before it hits your mouth. You probably have some liquid built up in there and cleaning it out should help.

Sorry, it's a 501.

I just tried really filling the cart till it was saturated right to the top, and that seemed to cure the burning taste. I'll try the paperclip thing and cleaning them. I did a quick read on the forum and saw the mod for clipping the wadding down and filling from underneath. I'll give that a go. Might also give the teaback mod a go as well.

Found a quick fix for the juice coming out the end - I got the mouthpiece off an old nicotine inhalor and fitted it over the cart end - this adds about two inches to the end of the thing, and makes it look more like a cigarette holder, but keeps the juice out of my mouth. But I'll try giving it a clean anyway, to get any liquid out of there.

have to say, topped up fully and without any in my mouth, it gives a mighty fine vape - actually far superior to smoking.

Many thanks for the input.

Phil
