Before I say anything else here. This is not a bash against Mike or his company in anyway, I'm still a Roar Vapor fanboy and always will be. I'm just curious to see if anyone else has experienced a similar situation in the past month or so and I don't know of any other way to go about doing it. So here goes...

Hawaii Sunrise has been an ADV for me for over a year now. I only have 3 ADV's so needless to say I know the flavor of Hawaii Sunrise very, very well. My last order from Roar had my usual 120ml's of Hawaii Sunrise.

Upon fist toot I noticed the juice had a "funk" in the flavor. I cannot explain this any other way than to just call it a "funk". So bad that I truly could not vape it. I got in touch with Mike and he had me send a bottle in for him to taste, thankfully he could taste the "funk" too. What's odd is that he had his brother try it but he couldn't taste it.

Regardless, Mike being the awesome guy that he is replaced my entire order free of charge. I get that order in and it has the same funk. Albeit to a lesser degree, I could still taste it though. Mike said he sampled some of them before he sent them out and they tasted just fine to him.

Me and Mike talked a bit more and we are both at a complete loss. I'm not the kinda guy to ask for him to make me another batch, that just wouldn't be right. So I'm just going to take a break from that flavor for about a month and hopefully whatever is causing the "funk" sorts itself out.

So long story short. I'm asking if anyone else out there has ordered any Hawaii Sunrise in the past month and noticed a difference to the flavor? Not even a "funk" necessarily, just a difference that is noticable?

Again, in no way shape or form is this post meant as a bash against Mike or his company. As far as I'm concerned he went above and beyond to replace my entire order for free. So no hard feelings at all. I'm just wondering if my taste buds have just decided to completely give up on this flavor.

I love Roar, recently I started to diy and found that many fruit and tropical flavors have that funk taste for 2 or three days and then become.

I make a burley that you would think was a bottle of the nastiest hotsauce with a slight burnt coil flavor after mixing, in a few weeks it becomes the greatest vanilla pipe mimic vape you could imagine. I giggle in thought when I vape it because of that-- its horrible..

I know you know about steeping but how about cold steeping not warm, put it in the freezer for a whole day then take it out and for two days let it sit on top of a warming device, I use a room air cleaner that keeps juice temps @ 84 steady it also has a constant fan that micro vibrates the juice. The funk goes away and the flavors pop better than if I had just left it with the cap off in a cabinet for a month..

shhh, I actually use the cable box but not being the guy who gave a heads up to people ruining their cable box, as clumsy can happen. It is perfect, it vibrates and warms the juice, it is the most perfect rudimentary device for steeping. Use a napkin under your juice if use..

I just ordered some yesterday, I hope it does not have this "funk" however I have never tasted this juice before so I won't know...

It really is a fantastic juice. Hope yours has no funk to it at all. I don't want it to sour anyone away from the juice. It's a beautiful vape, especially mentholated. When there's no funk in it of course. :p

I've just recently started storing my juice in the freezer. So I thought maybe that had something to do with the funk. But apparently it didn't. :( I think I'm going to give up on that. My juices don't sit long enough to need to be stored in the freezer.

I've never been a follower of all the steeping procedures to be perfectly honest. I just have a black box that I keep all my juice in. I hear about people using sonic cleaners to "super steep" them. Keeping them in the closet for X amount of days with the lids off. Then shaking them up and putting the lid back on for another X amount of days.

To me a good juice is good straight from the jump. I've never noticed any positive consequences from all the steeping rigmarole.

But to each their own and I really appreciate the info. :)

I've just recently discovered that Roar has started supplying vendors. Interesting that one of my ADV's became funky tasting around that same time. Maybe something had to give when he had to start supplying such a large number of people with his juice. Aww hell, I'm still gonna try it again in another month or 2. :?:

I just received 2 30ml bottles of Green Peach Tea, one of my ADV's for the last 1.5 yrs. It does not taste right at all. I have never had to steep this juice, I have always been able to just open the package and start vaping it right away. I am going to have a friend taste it too as this is his ADV, but I am wondering if they changed the base or flavor companies they use. I have been looking forward to this juice as I ran out a few months ago, have been using other juices but missed my "old friend". Will contact Roar tomorrow about it, I love their juices and feel bad that I have to, but I just can't vape it the way it is :(

That's exactly the way I feel about Hawaii Sunrise. It's a very old friend and is sorely missed. :( On the one hand I'm truly sorry to hear that other people are getting "funky" juices too. But then again, I am sort of relieved that it isn't strictly my taste buds. There does in fact seem to be something funky happening in the world of Roar. Please keep me posted regarding what Mike has to tell ya. He'll probably ask you to send some back to him so he can sample it. At least that's what he did with me. But as you're probably already aware, don't be surprised if he taste the weirdness too and sends you a new batch that still taste off. That's what happened to me.

It's probably his flavoring. He may have received a bad batch of a flavor, or old stock of something and he does not even realize it.

Yeah, that's a very good possibility. But I'm the only one who vapes Hawaii Sunrise and tasted the "funkiness" in it? It's possible I suppose. But now there's someone else that got a bad juice too. So maybe Mike will dig a little deeper and see what's going on. I'd like to see him (Mike) open a thread about it. Something along the lines of if you've gotten a juice from us recently and it taste funky, leave a comment telling us about it. It'd probably get more attention than my little baby thread here.

If he mixed it fresh it may need to sit for a few days in a dark cool plae. Also your taste buds may need a break from the flavor for a while, or the ingredients he mixed it with may have a slight funk, I'd give it a month or two and then re-order it and see if that changes it, if so then it was the ingredients, if steeping helped ect. All scientific method and the like.

I've known about the steeping phenomenon for ages now. Thankfully I've never had to do it with any of Mike's juices. They've all tasted great from the start, until recently. Yeah I am gonna give it 2 months or so. He might still be getting used to the ramp up in production now that he's got so many stores to supply.

Looks like you may have to go DIY to get what you want

I wan't Roar juice to be like it was. Awesome tasting and always clean. Can I get that with DIY? :D I'm far to lazy to ever DIY my own juice. In my almost 3 years of vaping I've never DIY'ed anything. No reason to start now. ;)
