LOS ANGELES — Ronnie James Dio, the metal god who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and later piloted the bands Heaven & Hell and Dio, has died, according to his wife and manager.
Dio announced last fall he was suffering from stomach cancer. He was being treated at a Houston hospital, according to his website.
"My heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m," said a statement by Wendy Dio posted Sunday on the site and confirmed by publicist Maureen O'Connor.
Wendy Dio said that friends and family were able to say their goodbyes to her husband, and asked for privacy. She concluded: "Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

67?!!?

Had some damn good times with his albums as a soundtrack.

RIP RONNIE JAMES DIO..
Your lyrics and music will live on forever..

I just want to say I seen him in (Ritchi Blackmore's) Rainbow with AC/DC in 78' on LI, NY.
I also had a BlueJeans jacket with the pic of the Albom RainBow Rising on the back.
Ahh, fond memories of back then. This is such a shame..
Lead front man for RainBow, Deep Purple (yes he was.), Black Sabbath, Dio and I believe 1 or 2 more that slip my mind.
Yup, he was 67 and still had that deep bassy voice that went on and on..

May you rest in PEACE and let your voice be heard on the wings of Angles..
