Hi All

Long time smoker looking/hoping to quit. I did a little research and have gone for the smok Alien 220w kit with the Baby Beast tank.

Initially I didn't understand everything that goes into the kit and ordered the wrong coils (ordered the Big Beast Coils.) When ordering my batteries from Directvapor.com the Samsung 30Q battery shows 2 batteries in the picture but it was only one battery (I should have realised by the price!!).... So my smok is sat on my shelf until the seconds battery arrives. I am hoping it gets smoother after this.

I am not really interested in the fruity e-liquids and have ordered the Vapor-fi tobacco liquid as well as Motley Brew Old Fashioned. The Vape liquid market is a minefield and will be doing my research, any recommendations?

Anyway, good to be here and I hope things get easier and I am sure this forum will help me.

OMG... you ordered Vaporfi e-liquid?

Nobody does that more than once. Seriously... (what people don't realize about Vaporfi....)

The Alien is an incredible mod... if you need even 25% of it's power, I'd be surprised.

Good luck. Just avoid the sharks, eh? :)

I went to the tobacco e-liquids section on the site I bought the SMOK Alien from and it had some good reviews. As I said it was a quick decision to buy with not much research, still learning!

It's a small mistake, no need to panic. (Not like my $800-worth of repeated mistakes)
You cannot trust many reviews in the e-cig game. I'm afraid the internet is totally messed up as there are now many thousands of reviews intended to send the unwary to certain brands. It's about commission and financial gain.
Would you trust a company that charges $119.99 for a $29.99 item?
Or a company that gives the impression they sell FDA approved products, when there are not any FDA approved e-cigarette products? No, I'm guessing.
Things are mostly not what they seem, sadly. But, we fight on and hope to save a few souls from the scams and rip-offs.

Thanks for the heads up. My work means I don't get a chance to visit a vape shop in person and have to rely on ordering over the Internet. Found some good threads on here already and will try out some of the recommendations.

Research, research, research!!

I know you're gonna be OK. If you are ever confused, just ask. :)
Sadly, too many people come on and say "I've ordered" instead of asking "Is this good, and a fair price?"
Excluding Vaporfi, things are much better than say 3 years ago.
(Forget all those cig-a-like brands... they're still charging five or six times too much)
3 years ago, a lot of us bought a certain mod e-cig for £31.99 ($40?) when the biggest vape shop in the UK was selling them for £99.99 ($125)... but it wasn't just the hardware, it was everything from liquids to atomizers.
Even the most criminal fake review site (I can't mention them, as their lawyers will harass me) has opened up their product recommendations so as to hide how they make their money.

Good luck. Enjoy your vape! :)

Yes stay away from vaporfi. My best suggestion is to come Herr first most people on here will give you good advice. The one caution I would give is more then one persons opinion and read a lot of different post seems some people post in threads just to start trouble not so much in new members forums.

Hi there Sarsbuk
So now you have the perfect excuse to buy the Cloud Beast itself and put the other 50 to 75 watts of that mod to work.

Buy the small ejuice sample sizes until you figure out what you like. Though it's more expensive than buying larger quantities it sure saves money when you decide to throw out those you don't like (and do try at least one of those fruit flavors as they sure do taste a lot better than tobacco :)).

Welcome @sarsbuk !

It was much easier when vape shops could offer free tasting of juice. You might check some near you if possible and see if that's possible. If not, some online vendors offer small samples you can buy. Whichever way you go, don't close any doors to types of flavors based on ingredients or description. One of my daily favorites for the past year is a grape/watermelon my shop had me try before telling me. Good thing they did since I would never had tried it if they had told me first.

Welcome and glad you joined. Glad to see you have done a lot of research. We all learn from our mistakes, too bad we don't remember them. ;)

Hello,

That's a great setup you have.. I would know, it's exactly same as mine even down to the Samsung 30Qs! :)

Everyone makes silly little mistakes, just make sure the one you don't make is with regards to batteries. You are safe up to around 110W (More than enough for the Baby Beast), just be careful if you change tanks to something requiring more power.

Enjoy it when your second battery arrives.

Good job I ordered some syringes - Got my Smok working today and took a few hits on the Vaporfi and did not like. Syringed it out and replaced with another e-liquid I got from Halo.

I think you are right, the vaporfi tobacco tasted like an ash tray. Will look for some sampler kits to see what is what.

Thanks

How do you like the Old Fashioned? I had their Brews Brothers (coffee & cream) flavor; it was pretty good but real strong -- once I put it in a tank, that's all the tank would taste like until I gave it a thorough disassembly and washing. Old Fashioned is one of my favorite libations, I'd be interested to know if it translates well to a vape liquid.

I went with 18mg & a 12mg nic e juice thinking I would need high nicotine to help the cravings... The 18mb (vapor-Fi Tobacco) tasted very harsh and I removed and replaced with the 12mg which was also harsh and hard to vape. I was thinking it was my machine or maybe the coil.

Spoke with a friend that has one and he tried it and coughed with the 12mg e juice. He replaced with his own 6mg e juice and much better. I guess my lungs are not what they use to be after smoking all these years.

Will try the 12mg I have coming on Saturday but if same effects I will stick to a 6mg.

Don't feel bad. Most people use 3mg or 6mg with sub-ohm coils. A simple rule of thumb is the lower the ohms, the lower the nic content in the juice. High nic juice is more for high ohm devices that don't give off a whole lot of vapor. Since low ohm devices vaporize far more juice, you will get much more nicotine in one puff than you would from a high ohm tank.

To simplify it, assume that you get 150 puffs(this is just a number I pulled out of thin air) from a 4.8ml tank with a sub ohm coil. At the same time, you get 150 puffs Afton a 1.6ml tank that doesn't produce nearly as much vapor. If you are running 6mg juice in the 4.8ml tank and 18mg juice in the 1.6ml tank, you are getting the same amount of nicotine on every puff. If you suddenly put 18mg juice in the 4.8ml tank, you are getting 3 times the nicotine with every puff, or the equivalent of putting 54mg juice in the 1.6ml tank.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the post...
