rookie question about mech mods

so ive been vaping for about a year and have only really had guidance from the people at the shops. currently i use a brass cartel clone mod with an atlantis tank and i like it, but am starting to have issues with my mod. The nickle plating on the bottom contact has essentially .... out at this point and ive been sanding it down with my dremel (dont worry it went well) but at this point after a year or so of use i think its time to get a new mod.

my big question here is when shopping for a new mechanical mod somewhere in the $150-$250 range what should i be looking for in the mod that really makes it a great mod. also with the changes of the material used to make the contact and everything what will really change with the new mod? will it hit harder? more flavor? cleaner hits? what does the nicer components of the mod do?

I guess the first question is what size mod do you want? Do you want yo use the same batteries you are already using? Would you like a larger or smaller mod? Interested in a regulated mod at all? There are a lot of mods out there. Need to limit ourselves a bit.

id basically want a similar setup to the mod i have no just higher quality. im not looking for a particular mod as i would want to buy it in store at my local shop but im curious about what to look for and how it effects the quality

for less than 100 bux I recommend a few copper clone mods. Copper contacts don't have a coating to wear off and the whole mod can be cleaned easily with Ketchup.

Try to feel and fondle as many mods as you can, how is it finished? does it feel solid? how are the threads, are they crunchy or smooth? Does the button stick, does it fire even if you press it on the side?

You should be able to tell if something is quality just by handling it.

Also be careful of clones with magnetic buttons. They often skimp on the buttons and they don't hold up to the current and die. Switch and top cap are most important, the rest is just a tube for holding a battery. Each material has its own merits. Some are more conductive but tarnish quickly, some stay cleaner than others.

Copper is the best conductor after; platinum, gold, and silver... So, unless you can afford the last three in solid form, then you might want to go with Copper I used to build handheld lasers and copper hosts/heat sinks are always the best bang for the $

thanks for the suggestions guys. i went out and picked up a munstro mod with silver contacts. got it for $170 after tax cuz they had a 35% off new years sale going on
