I have only had my RSST for a few weeks. When I first started building it...I had decent vapor. Now...when I rebuild it... I dont get much vapor at all and when i do get at hit...it makes me cough. It seems as if my coils and wick are better now than they were but my vape on it is terrible. Any ideas on what I'm now doing wrong? I cant even use it because it cause me to cough every time I hit it. Not a burned flavor...just like its so dense that it irritates my lungs. I have the air hole right in front of the wickand coils. I have drilled out the air hole appropriately. I am at a loss and I dont want to give up on the RBA thing...but it is discouraging. Any help would be appreciated.
I am going to assume here that you are rebuilding your coil with SS mesh but it could apply with other materials as well. It could be that your wick is not wicking (no capillary action) giving you a harsh hot metallic type vapor . I have found on my RSST's that I don't need to do the Genny tilt to get the wicking action with a proper wick. There are hundreds of You Tube videos on building wick and coils. Try taking the cap of the RSST and tilting the wick downwards at about a 60 degree angle and see if juice runs down the wick (if mesh). Fire it with the cap off and see if the vapor production is juice.
Another possibility if the wicking is OK is that if you are using a VV device your volts/watts are to high for the resistance of your coil. Have you measured your coil ohms to see what it is. Rebuilding a wick and coil you always want to know what the resistance is.
I find my RSST's are always in the rotation filled with favorite juices. I build the wick and coil with #400 SS mesh and 30 gauge ribbon Kanthal at 4 wraps and 1.3 to 1.4 ohms, that last forever excellent vapor and most importantly wonderful flavor to the juice.
Here are two links that will give lots of information about the RSST and rebuildables in general.
