RTA what does it stand for???

An RTA is a Rebuildable tank Atomizer. Basically the tank screws off the base to reveal the build deck. They're fairly simple to build on for beginners. My first was the Vaperesso Gemini.
Alternatively, there are also RBA's (Rebuildable Base Atomizer) like the Smok TFV8 line. In an RBA, the base you build on is removed just like a factory coil. The size of the base will determine how easy it is to work on.
If you're just starting, find a decent coil building kit. I grabbed mine on Amazon for around $35. Came with needle nose pliers, tweezers, flush cut wire cutters, coil jigs, scissors and an ohm reader. Determine what your target resistance is and head over to steamengine.org and use the coil calculator to figure out how to wrap your coil. Once it's wrapped, it's a good idea to use your tweezers or a flat head screwdriver and gently scrape your coils, then install it on your mod, turn your wattage down a little and dry burn in short pulses. You want to make sure your coil(s) heat evenly and from the center. Dry burning also burns off any excess machine oil that might be on the wire.
After that, just wick and vape. Only took my about 3 tries until I had it all figured out. Never hurts to search YouTube for tutorials as well.

Very easy.
1. Use good 20 amp batteries
2. Don't use faux hybrid mech mods.
3. Don't build stupid low resistance keep your builds at .25 ohms and above
If you're using a regulated mod, you have nothing to worry about. It won't fire if you have a short.

If you're using a regulated mod, learn watts law. The resistance won't factor into the amp draw on the battery. Stay under 60w per battery when using 20 amp batteries.
With mech mods, learn ohms law and read up on battery safety (even more pivotal than with regulated mods) before even considering a mech. Always use an ohm tester to check your coil resistance.

umm bunny darling... RBA is like an RTA and has a tank
RDA is re buildable DRIPPER atomizer no tank at all, can be converted to a bottom feeder for some to be used in a squonker(yet another type)

tanks have a coil head you can take in an out(RBA) or they have a base builtin(RTA), which you can replace the coiled wire and cotton wick on.
drippers have the base where you replace the coiled wire and cotton wick, but no tank, you drip the juice on usually from above through the driptip on a fairly frequent basis.
squonkers have a dripper top(RDA), but the center pin(the gold coloured one in the middle you can see it at the bottom of tanks and drippers connecting the top to the mod) is hollow, in the mod there is a soft plastic bottle that holds 7ml or more of juice. you squeeze the bottle and it feeds the juice up through the center pin into the top.
Technically, and at the start, an RBA is simply a rebuildable atomizer. Dripping atomizers were then started to be called RDAs. The we got RTA as a term to distinguish rebuildable tanks from rebuildable drippers. Technically both are RBAs. Finally, the term RDTA was introduced to market tanks that purported to provide a dripper like experience with the benefit of a tank. The 3D (hybrids with the Nemesis mech) and the Big Dripper are RDTAs. In my opinion the Limitless, Aromamizer Supreme, Avocado etc are simply RTAs. But, technically, all of these are RBAs. The rebuildable heads for. Clearomizers are RBA heads, not RBAs in themselves.
