Rugged rdas with threaded top caps?

I love my drippers, the best flavor ever. I like some gennys too, my rsst is a fog machine with ss rope an Ekowool sleeve and a1 ribbon wire. However my 9$ Phoenix is the most reliable atty I have, plus the top cap is threaded so it doesn't come off in my pocket. What's the deal with just O rings to secure a top cap? What purpose other than sealing does it serve? It barely secures the top cap with just one o ring and instead of adding threading manufacturers just add a second?! With the innovation of afc rings I don't see the purpose of using o rings to keep the top cap on. The aga t4 top cap is threaded, hopefully companies will follow suit for those of us without desk jobs. If I've overlooked an rda with threading securing the top cap please let me know. I'd much rather use a dripper that won't fall apart in my pocket. I just don't get it, are people that lazy that they demand instant access to the deck without taking 2 seconds to unscrew it? You can have o rings at the bottom to seal and threading above it to keep it secured!! Just look at the Phoenix! I'm done ranting...time to vape up.

imo there's a reason orings are generally used, they seal real good.

The magma will always leak a bit through the AFC ring, and also whistles a lot. Basically you can't uncap the top part and touch the ring without having liquid all over your fingers.
If you block the opened air holes on it and blow, you will notice there is still a fair amount of air that is passing through the ring. The Atomic has the same AFC design and does the same thing. I'm not sure but I believe that's why both are very noisy. Could also be cheap machining of the air holes I suppose.

I personally prefer the design of the origen above those two. It has 5 orings, the cap is both easy to turn won't ever move by itself, and no whistle or leaking (a very little bit through the opposite hole sometimes but I can safely fill it and put it in my pocket.)

In the end i'd say the problem is not orings or not, but finding properly engineered atomizers...

The adjustable ring drives me crazy with both origen and magma...more so with the magma.. I mostly keep the air control ring off of the magma.

I use my magmas the most.. I don't have any whistling with mine, but when you have a airflow design like that, it's hard not to make a woodwind instrument out of it.. I also have found it to be the most mess-free of the drippers I've used and own(ed).

^^^ This

Also, I have noticed that the 22mm diameter RDAs tend to hold together MUCH better than the smaller RDAs. I have an atomic, I think it's 19mm, and it's always crooked as heck after some pocket time. I have a tiny Smok RDA called the Optimus which is great, but literally falls apart every time I pick it up due to its small diameter and cheap construction. These are both o-ring fitup RDAs that I wish were threaded.

I also have a Trident v2 and a Quasar, they fit up with o-rings but NEVER fall apart. I don't think that they are any higher quality, I think it's the larger diameter. The amount of tube engage by the deck just simply won't allow them to get cockeyed in your pocket and the rings hold plenty tight to prevent them from pulling off.

I also have a Magma, it's threaded and holds together great, but it leaks like sieve. Someday someone will make the perfect RDA and we'll all wonder what the heck to complain about next...
