This is the funniest thing I have ever read on this site, EVER! I'm imagining the bomb squad coming to your house and defusing an ego.

Yea, kind of silly .... But not if that li-on battery vents, bursts into flames, or explodes. Does happen, many recharge their larger li-ons in flameproof bags. Several YouTube vids on ego bats exploding and causing fire I've seen, one vid starting a nearby mattress on fire. Since this battery was a cheap chinese knockoff, which I shorted the internal mosfet in it with a bad homebrew coil and now it's constantly on, much rather be laughed at then calling the fire dept and insurance agent if it blows in the house! :)

i'm a little cynical anytime a camera was conveniently turned on when an anomaly like a battery explosion occurs

Same here. Vids I saw were on another forum, not the firecracker explosion, but the aftermath showing a burned desk in one, mattress in another. I never gave these ego batteries much concern, do with my 18650s & 350s though .... They're a lot more power, so check voltages after a charge, feel how warm they're becoming while charging, and don't leave it charging over night like I always do with the egos in the wall wart/510 connector. Pretty strange symptoms, the lite goes out for about a second if I short it with a screwdriver.. Then lites up a second later with voltage on. Been a day now, guess I'll have to wait forever until the power drains and the led goes out before disposing of it. Makes for a nice always-on nite light :)

Don't know if it would help or not but can't hurt. Try pressing the fire button 10 times very quickly. I've read elsewhere on the forum that sometimes that will reset an ego.
Read that too, tried it, no luck. So I pulled it apart, figured it would go a month or more with only a led draining it. Has a 130450 battery in it & a little pcb board stuck in the tube. Bye bye little ego battery!

Nothing ventured--nothing gained. Good thing they aren't very expensive. :D
