i dont think the FAA has any laws regarding vaping. im not sure if there are laws regarding not smoking around aircraft but that one's a common sense thing. you dont want to be smoking around fueled aircraft.... not smart. vaping does not carry the flamability issues that smoking does therefore there are no safety issues with it. you would litterally have to soak a PV in avgas and fire the atomizer to have any sort of safety issue and even then i who knows if that would be enough to spark a blaze..

also he told me no smoking. a provari and an itaste tank looks NOTHING like a cigarette. he must not even looked at what i was doing. last time i check cigarettes were not made of stainless steel and plastic.

Honestly when I fist started vaping its because someone showed me a cigalike from green smoke and being that I wanted to stop I gave it a try

but it was not till I seen this forum much later that I seen what a mod looked like

If I saw it on the outside for the first time wouldn't know what to think possibly for illegal stuff would come to mind

Some people just can't stand to see other people enjoy themselves... And especially when it comes to anything vaguely resembling a cigarette... The wife and I were at a local eatery (outside in a designated smoking area by the way) vaping merrily away while enjoying our meal... A couple a few tables down from us (on the windward side) that were seated after us started fake coughing and called over a waitress to complain... The waitress attempted to explain (she knows us as we're regular customers) that we weren't smoking and that the area was a smoking designated area... Didn't make any difference - the people didn't leave but kept up their little coughing show until we finished our meal and went on our way...

As DC pointed out, ANTZ have training. This is one of their techniques.
Why don't WE have training on how to deal with ANTZ like this and put a stop to the bullying? It should be against the law to demoralize and bully others...

So using the power of the government to demoralize and bully others is a good thing...

We take it for granted that the people we run into are playing with a full set of cards. While trying to look at the OP's situation without getting my emotions riled up, I can't help but think that the guy that told him "you can't smoke here" is a taco short of a combination plate. He continued his "mission" and went down the line uttering the same line over and over again. Hm!

So that would be saying "you're a little off plumb, so its "ok" for you to get all up in my grill because you are "offended"

Cmon now

I'm offended they are offended

Oh, not at all! I agree with the OP, I would have told him to mind his own business as he was walking away from me too. The guy was obviously an idiot.

There could be a safety issue, in that it may make it difficult to enforce a no-smoking area if there are vapers vaping in it.

OK. Perhaps it's time to address this problem. If it truly is a problem, the solution is not to stop people from doing something that's perfectly legal. Instead we need to deal with the actual problem.

So, if that truly is a concern:
  • Create a vaping area to keep all the vapers together and watch to make sure they aren't in reality smoking.
  • Have vapers get special badges to wear or have clearly visible tags attached to their PVs on the way in so that they can easily be spotted and told apart from smokers.
  • Any other ideas?
Let's get real here. Most of the time this is just an excuse. If it is a REAL concern, the answer is not to walk all over people's rights.

And, yes, I'm old enough to remember when a busybody was just a busybody and not likely to pose any real threat to people's rights. Instead they were just shrugged off as the trivia that they really were. Nowadays the busybodies are passing laws and actually causing harm to others.

Yes, in the '50s and '60s people paid attention. But, in the '50s and '60s we still had a constitution instead of a president who thinks the constitution is out-dated!

Sorry Charlie, but you totally lost me with your train of thought here.

methinks I'm the one who should be using the facepalm pic
I could explain it to you but couldn't understand it for you

Lets make 400 million new laws, let the goverment control EVERY aspect of your life...that way noone will hurt anyone elses feelings ever

I guess some people are "cool" with giving the government more power to stick their nose in everyone's bidnezz

Well, it's a law in the forums to not bully or to demeanfully attack others. (look ma! I can invent words!!)
I don't mind laughing at myself. I do it all the time.
But I do mind being bullied and demeaned by others. Especially those who use bullying and demeaning in order to avoid conversing the topic at hand. Take Stanton Glantz for instance. No, please. I insist. I certainly don't want him.

Are you bullying me? Demeaning me? Laughing at me? Laughing with me? Is that your intention?
Or are you trying to say it takes bullying to stop bullying.
That's a new one. Are you trying to say, that in order to stop the bullying and demoralizing, that one would have to become a bully & demoralize others in order to achieve our goal of equality in voice and rights?
I'm no politician. But, apparently, you are?

What was the topic again?

Odd, last I checked, this thread was about a private event. Here is a list of what is also not allowed at these events-

What Isn't Allowed Through the Gates?

You can save yourself time and hassle by leaving the following items at home, in your car or at your campsite, as these items will not be allowed through the admission gates:

Coolers larger than 12-by-18 inches.
Beer, wine, liquor or any other alcoholic beverage.
Firearms, fireworks and explosives.
Knives with a blade length of more than 4 inches.
Pets, other than service animals.
Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, "Razor" style boards, Segway personal transports, or any other self-propelled device.
*(one person electric/handicapped convenience vehicles are allowed)
Oversized backpacks.

What Isn't Allowed Through the Gates?

Owning all of the items on the list is perfectly legal, yet none are allowed to be brought inside the gate. Are the rights of attendees being violated?

Odd, they actually do have smoking areas-

Smoking
Because aviation fuel is extremely flammable, there is NO SMOKING allowed on the flightline, near any aircraft, or in any EAA buildings. There are designated smoking areas on site. Smoking in a non-designated area is prohibited.

What is EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
