Runaway atomizer flooding effect

I have this weird thing going on with my bottom feeder: the atomizer has a draw that's a little tight to begin with. My mod's catch cup is a bit of a tight fit on top of that, making the draw even tighter, but still okay. If I happen to squonk a little too much juice, the space between the catch cup and the atty gets flooded and plugs up the vent hole. As a result, when I vape, I create a vacuum that pulls even more juice from the bottle, flooding the atty even more. In short order, the coil is completely submerged. The only cure then is to let the mod sit for a while, so the extra juice drains out of the catch cup, or unscrew the atty and clean everything up.

I believe it's a design flaw - the catch cup doesn't have a wide enough diameter. Although I must say, my juices are very thick, and that might have something to do with it.

I'm thinking of enlarging the atty's vent hole, to prevent the problem from starting, or drilling a small vent hole just above the coil - and above the catch cup - to limit suction when I puff and prevent the mod from self-feeding.

Has anybody had that problem? What did you do to solve it?
