It also appears that the vertical juice channels are the ones that are cut shallow. The horizontal ones seem to be much deeper in comparison. Also where the vertical and horizontal channels meet, it almost appears that the machining wasnt completed all the way to join the 2 channels properly. I hope that made sense. Next time someone has theirs apart could you verify that the vertical channels are more shallow than the horizontal channels. And also if there is a bottleneck where the vertical and horizontal channels meet.

Thanks in advance

After looking at many close up photos of kayfun and russian decks, I determined that mine was not machined properly. I put my base in the mill and opened up the vertical juice channels to match the horizontal ones. Have the airflow control backed all the way out and it is performing excellent. No flooding issues as of yet either. I loaded up a zero nic juice and chain vaped like crazy and it wicks like a dream now.

I have searched around and couldnt find any threads about this. Has anyone ever opened up the juice channels on a russian or kayfun? I Dont have another russian or kayfun to compare to but basically I vape 50/50 or thicker juices and I have to close off the air pretty tight to get it to wick properly. If I Dont close the air down I get dry hits pretty frequently. I wish I had a clone to try this on as I Dont want to put a real russian in the mill but if I make the juice channels bigger, can i leave the air path open and still get good wicking? Am I going to get flooding if I do this?

Thanks in advance.

It is not necessary to alter/open up the channels on a Kayfun if you are building/wicking correctly. I use 50/50 juices standard all the time with my Kayfun 3.1. I remove the airflow control screw completely and vapor production increases by a good amount. Remember when your cotton wick is exposed to juice it will expand, you don't want too thick of a strand. Pull each end of the cotton down towards each channel, get them a little bit wet with juice, and press them down and slightly to the side of each channel. Cut the excess cotton off and only keep the cotton reaching as far down as where the base of the channels are.

I wish I would have taken a picture of mine before I milled it. It was definitely a flaw. The machining was horrible and like I said before the connection of the vertical and horizontal juice channels barely met up. There was only a very tiny passage for juice to get through.

Before/after-milling pictures of the channels will be very helpful ITT.
