I just bought a Wismec RX200S and I'm having an issue with the temperature control on it. Before buying this RX200S, I had and still have an Innokin Cortex that I used temp control on all the time with great success. Anyway, heres the issue...

I've tried using both Ni200 and Titanium coils with the RX200S and I have to set the temperature about 100 to 150 degrees F higher on the RX200S to get a vape similar to that of my Innokin Cortex. I'm using an Innokin Isub-S tank with their Ni200 and Ti coils (not RBA coils or anything). With the Ni200 coil on the Cortex device set to TC-Ni mode I great a nice warm vape at around 450F. Using the same tank and coil on the RX200S (after letting it cool to room temp of course) and setting it to TC-Ni mode, I have to turn up the temp to like 550F (watts at 50) to get even a remotely similar vape. If I set it to 450F like on the Cortex, its completely cold and almost no vapor at all.

Its the same story with Ti coils. The temp range printed on the side of the coil says 356 to 464 F, but anything below 500F on the RX200S is ice cold and little vapor.

I even tried setting manual TCR values, going by values I found online for Ni200 and Ti. The value I found online for Ti was an TCR value of 0350 in the RX200 but I found that I need a value of 0450 for Ti to get a similar vape at a similar temperature as I would on my Cortex device.

What is going on here?! I'm fairly confident that my Cortex device is accurate with it's temperature, seeing as how I can use coils withing they're printed temp range with no problems on it and get a nice vape doing so.

Mine should arrive tomorrow.
Trying to learn more about the tcr mode
and 3 presets.

Cool. Do you have any other devices with temp control to compare yours to when you get it? I'm just curious if mine is acting weird or if they all do this... As for the TCR mode and presets, it's fairly simple to get the hang of. If you need to change the 3 presets for TCR, you power off the RX200S (five clicks of the fire button), and then hold the Fire button and the left dimpled selector button together at the same time for a few seconds and the TCR presets will show you. Then you use the Fire button and both selector buttons to change the values. Here is a link to a wire TCR values for reference: http://i.imgur.com/T0cBNE5.jpg so for example, Ni200 shows a value of .00620 so in the RX200S preset menu the value you would 0620 and Ti01 shows a value of .00350 so in the RX200S thats 0350

I have 3 TC mods including the rx200s and each mod behaves differently with the same atty and build!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know if there is a fault or shipping damage to my rx but the screen gets hot (warm). Looks like I may have to investigate the 510's proximity to the board at some point.

The first thing that comes to mind is the mod is reading the initial (room temp) resistance too low. Ideally, an accurate ohm meter is used to determine what the atty resistance actually is, then if the mod reads it differently the resistance should be adjusted accordingly. Not all TC mods allow for adjustment of the initial resistance. In those cases, one way to get around it is to unlock the resistance, install the room temp atty then pulse it one or two times, remove it, hit fire button then reinstall the atty and if the resistance is closer to the actual resistance- or lacking an accurate meter, if it's now reading 0.01 or 0.02 ohm higher than when at room temp, lock it there and see how it vapes.

The heat isn't caused by the 510, the board is right under the screen- zero gap between the two- so the heat normally generated by the board will go into/through the screen into the front of the mod. The board is temp protected, that's to say if the board gets too hot, it'll display an error message saying so. So as long as you're not getting a message, you're good to go. Just be sure the battery has a high enough discharge rate and is in good condition. Also you'll find the board heating more with a low battery charge, all else being equal.

Well isn't that the case with all similar mods? admittedly, the 0.96" screen makes for a large target area for heat but I don't feel heat generated by the boards through the screen of any of my other devices!!

Additionally, I did some testing with various toppers with varying 510 lengths and found the shorter ones such as the Atlantis and some of my older gear with flat + pins did not cause the screen to get as warm.
Those newer atty's with direct battery connection style extended 510 pins (the kind that don't really fit on the rx200's well) caused greater heat. They are extending the pin the max. it can go into the mod
Perhaps my assumption is not conclusive but there is something in it for sure.
At least with the board temp. protect, it shouldn't be cause for much concern as you say.

I haven't tried TC yet because all my atomizers are coiled with Kanthal. I plan to start out with SS316L and go from there on TC. I have Kanthal, Ti, SS316L, and Nichrome to play with. I'm not a big fan of Ti. One dry hit and the coil turns a dull grey. I like to dry burn to clean the crud when I change a wick. Ti seems to require a recoil to get back to like new condition since you can't dry burn Ti.
