So I stopped using my DL devices due to stomach problems, doctor said it was putting pressure on a small hernia I have and also the deep lung inhales were irritating my stomach and esophagus.

So back to my Aspire nautilus Mini tank with 1.8 coil around 13W

I've been using nic salts only as the buzz kicks in quicker and lasts longer for me.

Got a 3 pack of 10ml salts premix: Element 555 Tobacco 10mg. Element Honey roast tobacco 10mg.

Doozy dtv caramel tobacco 10mg.

This last one is a coil killer plain and simple. Can't get past a few drags before burnt taste. I'm along term vaper so know how to prime etc and was brand new coil. It's quite a Dark liquid and likely packed with sweeteners. So that's going in the bin. Shame as the first 5 puffs tasted great but after that it's coil burn city on the Nautilus mini.

Emptied out and ran some 80pg 20vg 88vape rolling leaf through it and that cleaned the coil. Vaped excellently and got rid of the burn taste but is not nic salts which I prefer and high PG is nasty to me, coats my tongue and leaves my mouth dry. Ick.

So next cleaned out my tank and tried the Element 555, still same coil. Vapes really well, like a champ, burns at 14W but is really a good vaper at 12.5 and 13W. BUT tastes like tea lol.

So my hopes are on the Element Honey Roast tobacco.

If that fails.... sigh...

Any recommendations for a nic salt, 50/50 10mg RY4 OR caramel tobacco that is not a coil killer like the doozy dtv caramel tobacco ....?

In the UK. Cheers. Dinner lady do a caramel tobacco but my experience says run from anything with caramel in the name if not using sub ohm!

Oh I LOVE a good RY4. So that would be my preference.

UPDATE - the honey roast tobacco is the best of the 3. It's got a decent flavour but the vapour is a bit odd, not much 'bite' to it if that make sense, not 'dry' enough? Kind of wet? Hard to describe really, taste is good but an RY4 has a more smokey / dry / smoke like kind of vapour if you know what I mean..?

No worries. I figured as much but thought i'd post it regardless just in case. ;)
I never mixed my own between 2011 when i started vaping and just a few months ago though. Never thought I would but here we are! :D

I appreciate the thought but the less fiddling about the better for me.

I remember liking just plain Janty / Dekang / Hangsen RY4.... they all seem to have biscuit, cream, honey or something exotic blended in now sigh

Just want simple RY4 or caramel tobacco that isn't a coil killer...

Might look at Dinner Lady Nic Salt – Caramel Tobacco

Used to sub ohm their strawberry custard, very good liquid. Just hope the caramel tobacco won't be dark and full of sweetener

Also seen Halo Tribeca 50/50 - 0mg online, add 4 x 20mg nic shots and should be about 12mg...? Ah that will take the flavour out of it though....

Will try the dinner lady

I understand about some juices clogging coils (had one with brown sugar that did that fast) I use the 1.8 ohm coils in a Nautilus X (slightly different coils than the regular Nautilus) I have had some juices slowly clog coils but never got a "burnt" taste and still went through many fills before I had issues. Don't use "salt" nic but there can be a difference between them (In the DIY discussions, some people mentioned two kinds... regular and "hit" salts... the latter is for strong "throat hit"... something I never cared for) I just can't imagine this happening after 5 hits. Are you sure your mod setting didn't change (wattage)? It's easy to miss if you don't lock the settings. I know... sounds like you have more experience than me but just throwing some ideas out there.

No problem.
i had the same problem trying to find a "pure" and non-sweetened ry4.
Really wish the Janty / Dekang recipe was more easily found, or i'd buy a bunch of it.
Hmm, if I find a premixed RY4 that's not dark i'll mention it. Good luck on your search man.:thumb:

No it's the liquid, as the Element 555 and Honey Roast tobacco vape just fine and are 50/50 same settings and the same coil, so after I swapped liquids the coil is working great.

I tried everything with the caramel tobacco, even cleaning tank running pg through coil and refilling, starting low wattage etc. Still burnt after few puffs, then no burnt but original taste not come through. This coil just cannot handle that liquid. Only mixing it with 88vape 80pg/20vg worked but tasted ICK.

I'm actually loving the Element Honey Roasted tobacco and it vapes really well so I'm happy! :)

Thanks for your reply! Happy vaping!

Shame the Hangsen RY4 is 20mg only. Always liked their RY4

Anyway I'm happy to say the Element Honey Roast Tobacco is really nice

Well the Element Honey Roasted tobacco is nice and clear, sightly yellow but not dark, a clear amber colour. It is really rich, and malty, a very good bold flavour and nice warm vapour, so moorish! Vaping at 13W and zero issues.

Will just keep with that as I'm a one liquid kinda guy as like keeping it simple nowadays as only vape less than a Nautilus mini tank a day so that'll keep me off of the IQOS now which I had been on for couple years. Then went back to sub ohm DTL but as mentioned in OP cannot do that any more.

I'll read some reviews and see what dinner lady caramel tobacco is like for fun, but the honey roasted is great so don't really need it. I'm lucky in that I going back to MTL I've only spent about £15 on liquids to find one that works so that's not too bad.

Cheers all

Well life just got even better!

I got a Caliburn with the 1.2 ohm coils. FWIW they crush the nautilus mini coils when it comes to performance! And to think back in the day the mini was one of the best flavour MTL tanks! Now it's like old rope in comparison!

I've got the Element Honey Roast Tobacco and Doozy Caramel Tobacco and my do these pods vape well!

Smooth, clean, prefect MTL draw, and the flavour and warmth is like amazing. This will be the one to get me off the IQOS for sure, I have no doubt this is my perfect vape with 50/50 and 12mg salts. Happy

Vape unflavored zero nic while chewing on a peanut-crusted caramel and having a packet of Swedish snus (with its nic) tucked between your cheek and gum. Clean coils all the way.

Short of that, this:
Sweet and dark are coil killers. All the RY4s I have ever tried are rather sweet and at least moderately dark. No way getting around that as far as I know.

;):)

I love a good RY4, but dark and/or thick juices are just coil killers. These days I vape mostly unflavored 70pg/30vg and 50/50. I just add a shot of flavored juice here and there to add a hint of a flavor when I crave something else.

I rewind and replace coils once or twice a month and use flavors that I mix lightly and add to a tank in small amounts. I've learned to like low flavor adds to unflavored juice.

Caramel doesn't have to mess up your coil to start tasting burnt. It just does. Fortunately a true RY4 is not caramel tobacco and many have no problem. Speaking of Hangsen, I think they have the RY number system messed up. Far preferring their RY1, never got into the RY3 and 4. It's like RY4 Double with more tobacco. I'm DIY so can't speak for their strength.

I wasn't impressed with the Element tobaccos, mostly old shoe flavor based.

Even if you don't want to mix your own, I suggest getting some (DIY priced) unflavored to make mixes less overflavored, also cheaper and maybe deal with nic salts. Last premade I got was 0 nic because I use less than 3 mg in dripper and less than 6 in MTL, so I just add nic myself.

As to the Caliburn, convenient and good amount of vapor, but flavor is strongly lacking compared to a Nautilus with a tight airflow setting or a properly built EVOD.

Have to strongly disagree there. I've had a Nautilus for years and my recent one was brand new. Used to have the old evod's too - blast from the past (started vaping in about 2009.)

Caliburn is on a whole next level for flavour compared to those 2!

Few QC issues, the odd pod bit leak here and there. Have to refill really after 1ml.... But consistent, constant, warm flavourful vapour. so for the price cannot moan. Plus I go through less than a pod a day as was only ever a light smoker, when I was on IQos only 3 - 5 a day of those... It's 9,30pm now and I've had 5 vape sessions of about 10-15 puffs is all and is my normal, so caliburn will do me fine. My friend I exchanged with is really enjoying the Coolfire 4 TC100 and two cleito tanks with 0.4ohm coils I swapped with her!
