RY5 experts required..

Hey folks,

I just received my first shipment of FSUSA juices yesterday. One of them was the RY5 which according to the description is supposed to be the sweeter version of the RY4.

Problem is, I'm not getting the "sweet" factor. I get nice throat hit, and I can get the tobacco undertones.. but not the sweetness.

The juices took 11 days to get to me, so I would assume that they are well steeped.

What am I missing here? or is this how it's supposed to be? Do I need to let it rest further?

I also got ThinMintCookie which I love, and Hypnotic Mist & Cappucino Smooth that I've not tried yet.

Your feedback would be appreciated.

Hmmm... I am not an RY fan as I do not use tobacco flavors but I do know that your order would have shipped as soon as it was mixed. I am pretty sure that it was not mixed 11 days ago. So, knowing that I can tell you that most of the caramely, creamy flavors do need steep time to reach full flavor. You can take the lid (including dripper top) off overnight. Tomorrow, replace the cap and shake well. You will see a big difference in the flavor but time is what will really make the flavor pop. Hope that helped.

I don't consider RY5 a sweet flavor like I would French Toast, Hopscotch or some of the others; however it does tend to be "sweeter" and less tobacco-y than the RY4. All this is based on my tastebuds, of course...yours may be completely different.

As for the steeping time, I normally let my RY5 set for around a month before I really dive into it. That long may not be necessary, but it's a juice that just seems to keep getting better the longer it ages. Give it a week then try it again; or take the cap and bottle topper off and let it set overnight to get the oxygen into it then give it another whirl.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll let it rest for a while and re-visit it in a couple weeks. That being said, I forgot to mention I also ordered the Mojito, and that flavour is spot-on. So, ThinMintCookie and Mojito are as expected. Looking forward to trying the HypnoticMist and Cap Smooth.

I really liked RY4, so I thought RY5 would be even better. But I also did not care for it at all. Definitely not sweeter (actually seemed bitterish to me).

I agree with Free. It definitely improves with time. I have a bottle that is about 90 days old I am about to break into. I like to open the bottle right away and let it sit for a week before I shake and put it up to steep. David recommends this too. If I am going to jump right into a bottle, I still leave the top off in between fills for a week and it really brings the flavor out fast. RY5 is a sweeter version of RY4 and it isn't candy sweet but you should taste the sweetness after some air & steep time.
