So I was at home depot today and spotted this new lineup from Ryobi. Basicly theyve created a ton of tools that run off of ONE standard rechargable powersource. Besides the obvious laser levels etc, they also have added MP3 players, a 9mp Digital Camera, and a portable power-in-a-can setup.

Im not sure of all the specs yet, but the technology and best of all the PRICE has me interested. Baring the camera etc the battery's are around $10 and the battery backup canister is only $20.

One of these looks like a nifty emergency backup to charge our ecig batterys with, assuming you use a USB charger! Again only $20 so if it can survive (and being built like ti is, i handled them myself, they're DURABLE) and meet the requirements, why not? Im looking for some advice before I pickup a few chargers/batterys/canisters and im curious what others people think of them. Think they can do the trick?

Also, another thing I noticed was some of these are rated at 4V but they also had several 5V on display. Hey, maybe a new HV ecig mod?

The portable, errr, backup power supply.

Also here is their other product page, the manual is at the bottom in .PDF in anybody can get anything from that.

The batteries themselves

The dual charger. Also, this thing is only $30ish or so, and comes with 2 batteries. They claim it does a full charge in 36 minutes, thats much faster than my 510 batteries.

Again, having messed with the gear myself for a fair bit theyre actually relatively light weight, they seem durable and the size is decent. Definity could fit in my pocket.

So, what do the pros think? Should i give it a shot and pickup one tomorrow? Either i can try for a 4V mod if you people thing its possible, or heck it would be a good cheap replacable PCC otherwise, correct?

How big is that Tek4 battery all by itself? I couldn't find anything that showed measurements. Be pretty interesting to build a mod with it, if it's small enough...

Just dug this up. The TEK4

  • Assembled Depth (In Inches) : 3.385 in
  • Assembled Height (In Inches) : 4.96 in
  • Assembled Weight (In LBS) : 0.14 lb
  • Assembled Width (In Inches) : 1.024 in

The 14500 that I hear mentioned alot on these forums, for comparison:
Shipping Weight: 0.07 Pounds
Diameter: 14.2 mm (0.56 in)
Height: 49.85 mm (1.96 in)

Hrmm, if that is specs for the battery alone, that is a monster!
For reference my Silver Bullet is 4.25" tall (without atty) and approx 1" in diameter..

Still might be fun to play with...

i had already made this type of post the day after balck friday.... i had saw them .. they had a super sale on the tek 4 stuff. i think i posted it in the battery section of the forums..... only got one poster, and nuthing interesting. no one seemed interested in it... so i said screw it lol

you could make a mod out of it easily. but is actually a lil more exp $$$ then getting ion batts from a website and makiing your own flashlight, or box mod.

im still curious to see what type and size of ion batt is inside that plastic shell though!
