just got my dc in today and i have a couple of questions. first off, forgive me for not having all my ducks in a row just yet. I will be getting a provari any day now, but as of now my only power source to fire the dc is my reo grand. it threads onto the connector nicely and it does fire, although the coils never seem to glow no matter how long i hit the fire button. my suspicion is that its just not enough voltage for the coil. i am trying it as it came wicked and coiled my chopper, looks like a 3/4 wrap. i was under the impression that this would yield a coil of about 1.5~2.0ohms. i'm not sure of the proper way to test resistance on these, but when i check it at the connector like i would a commercial atty it reads about 9 ohms. when i test it by touching the two silver posts where the wire is wrapped it reads about 3.5 ohms. both of those values seem too high, but again i'm not sure if the whole resistance checking is the same as it is for commercial attys.

i didn't expect the dc to work perfectly on my reo, but i thought it would hold me over till the provari came in. the reo with a fresh 18650 delivers around 4.1v, more than enough i would think to light this baby up like a xmas tree. am i missing something?

You NEVER want your kanthal to start glowing red, you will either pop the coil or get what will be without question the WORST dry burn hit, yes even being the ORACLE of wicks, I have done it to many times, lmao. The readings you are getting are far to high, 9ohm you would short your battery if the DC was pulling that much. 3.5, maybe, but again I think that is over reading from the electrodes. The easiest way to read it out is going to be the OHMs that the connector is pulling on that provari when you get it. A 3/4 wrap is going to pull anywhere from 1.5 - 2.0 depending on the spacing of the wraps. I have a 4/5 wrap on my katana today that is flailing around 1.8-2.0.

To Tib's point, are you getting vapor production from the DC when you are firing it off on the REO?

Wick / Coils do take a little working in to, keep that in mind as you go through the process. you can PM me also if you like.

ok, i just re-wraped, this time with a 2/3. i'm definitely getting vapor. haven't checked resistance but its definitely working. i'm a total noob to this i don't know what to expect, but i do know im not geting anything like i've seen in the vids. will keep working on it.

I just posted a question over in the ss mod support thread, should I have put mine in here?

Hi Spoons,

Ok tips and tricks here we go!

1) If you are dry burning, make sure you have a tilt going to help the juice wick, 2pm should do it to get things running and happy
2) Airy draw - this is the mainly seen question from new genesis style users. Airy draw does happen, and it does take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, be patient, you will not want anything but.
3) if it is too airy, as Tib said, use some tape and try covering the air hole a little at a time to get the draw you are looking for
4) SIAM MODS makes an AFS drip tip, (Adjustable air flow) so you can regulate the draw using on of those (I have one I use on Katana and SS Line it works fine)
5) If your LT can read OHM's see what the DC is pulling for ohms and adjust the voltage of the device accordingly, you do not want to overpower the DC or you will pop a coil and not wick very well.

As always PM me if you have questions too.

So my Wife called and said my DC-Mini arrived at the house today, thanks Chopper! I can't wait to get home and check it out!

Has anyone attempted or knows for a fact whether we can use cinnamon liquid in the DC's? I haven't seen any mention or confirmation as to what type of plastic is in the tube, be it polycarb/acrylic or whatnot.

I'd like to get confirmation before I load it up and end up cracking my tank, as I would prefer not to throw away $55 upon instantly getting my DC, and I'm sure that wouldn't make Chopper happy with all the hard work he put into it :D

Tib is right some orders will go out tomorrow, sorry I had no control over this one.I will be up all night tonight building so they can go out tomorrow.JunkyRock yours will be one of them.

Chopper you are the man!!! I was not hounding you to hurry, I am just excited to get the DC. I think you are one of the best ecf suppliers on here. You always post a reply to any ?'s, and are always there for us!!! Thank you!! That is awesome!!! I am so happy that mine will be here soon!!! You also need to take time for yourself, so don't over do it, and get burnt out. Too many suppliers take it too far to keep all of their customers, and that is great for the customer, but you also need to be human, and relax once in a while. I am very guilty of over doing it, and sometimes I pay the price. Anyways, thanks Chopper, and hope for the best for you!!!
