To all you folks out there who are just getting your first rebuildable. I have purchased and received 3 different rebuildables (RBs we'll call them from this point on), in the past 2 weeks. These were my first experiences with RBs. I have watched 5 videos 3 times each, at least. I have read several pages and asked several questions. I am a handy kind of guy. WTS, the learning curve that everyone is talking about is, I would say is a 6 out of 10. Today after a week and a half (I dont work pending surgery) of testing, rolling, wrapping and re-testing I got clouds of vapor and amazing flavor at the same time. :rickroll:
Be patient, pay attention, the slightest adjustments of the coil makes a world of difference. The amount of mesh used to roll wicks makes a world of difference regarding wicking. The thickness of the wick in relation to the wick hole makes a big difference. You are going to fail, BUT learn why you failed, a couple of times. This is how you become successfull. DO NOT GIVE UP! I tell my kids all the time "more is learned by failure than success". Do not be afraid to re-do your wick and coil a couple of times. Go to youtube and check out Scubabatadan's wick rolling and take a few of his tips, such as soaking the mesh b4 attempting to roll it. There are several different types of RBs out there and everyone has their own way of doing this. So watch them all and take a few tips from each and b4 you know it you will have clouds of vapor just like Larry the Cable Guy, um no wait thats Chopper71 not Larry.
A week ago I was in the position a lot of you are in, hence this little pep talk. Now keep in mind I am by no means an expert, I just felt the need to share the fact that this big guy with huge hands was successfull at manipulating those little tiny wires into vaping bliss.
Stick with it, step away every now and then, collect yourself and read this post again. Then take one of whatever it is that calms you down, take a deep breath and then go apply all that you learned the first time or 2 that you were off by just a little bit.
Good luck, and GIT R DONE.....

So I made it home from work at 5PM, and since I'm unsure if we can use cinnamon liquids in these, I went ahead and made a bottle of maple waffles for it.

I rolled the wick, made the coil, and the bottle of liquid in 20min, cause I was too anxious :D

Here are some pics:

I made a 3.5ohm coil, as it's what I always vape on my Genesis Mini and Ato-Miser, at 5v. The wick still needs to break in, then it'll start wicking better, but so far, I call this a win.

I also drilled the air intake hole to 1.40MM, and it made it have the perfect draw.

Do any of you that have received your DefCon also have a Darwin? I'm curious if the arm on your Darwin will close with it attached. I have a Bulli A2TM that closes with minimal clearance on my Darwin, but I don't have a decent caliper with which to measure the diameter properly. Best I can eyeball is ~14.25mm at the widest on the A2TM, but it does lean away from the Darwin slightly and the A2TM tapers down towards the base, so with the DefCon being the same diameter top to bottom, it may be a tight fit if at all, unless adding an adapter or two.

Anyone knows what size the mesh (unrolled) should be?
Can't remember I saw any post about it.
I suppose the size isn't the same on different gen attys so looking on You tub isn't going to help.
(I'm still waiting for mine to show up in Sweden :) )

i know i saw the dimensions someplace - i'll go roaming to see what i can find ...

Ok, some follow up to my previous posts. I'm now getting plenty of vapor with the top cap off. She's looking like a steam train, but I do notice that the top coil is turning red way before any of the other ones do. Now when I add the top cap it seems like I get much less vapor compared to the being off, plus the taste is strange in a way that I can't describe. From what i've read it seems like I may have a short. Does that sound correct? Will have to wrap another coil and give it a go. Also, I am starting to notice juice leaking from the two windows on the side. I thought it was from being sloppy at first, but after I cleaned it up the first time, it has happened a few more times.

I don't have a DefCon yet, so this is all speculation.

I'd check that the terminal posts aren't touching the top cap. That would cause a short.

The juice is being wicked up from the bottom, so it would make sense that the top coil will heat up before the bottom, as there isn't as much juice up there.

Hi all I'm finally taking a little break. Thanks to everyone that is trying to field questions,it looks like there have been a few.Far as any leaks that is all on me.I did not want to use any type of sealer but have since started to use it on the base to keep the juice tube from any leaks. Its nothing major so please don't think.....Man I got something that won't work because that's not the case.Far as wicking issues that falls on each individual person. As I have no idea what works best for each person. For anyone that is new to RBA,it will take some time and practice to get it down.Once you do,you are going to love it.My sub mini got a leak last night so I used some JB weld on the connector where the juice tube slides on and no problems.I will not do that to anyone Else's unless you tell me its okay to do so.I get no weird taste and the JB weld is cured and is solid.I will try and get on more to help if I can.Right now I'm behind and not liking it at all.2 days and not being able to build has really thrown me a curve ball and I apologize for that.

I will get this made and out to you all soon as I can.I can't say I'm sorry enough as I feel like crap for the unforeseen delay.Soldering the negative post is the biggest slow down that I have.It does not want to stick at all,so I have to use more solder on it.Just let me know how I can help and thank you all.
