I'm putting together a concept that would include a custom clearomizer, at first i figured my ingredients would be cotton, nichrome wire, silver solder and steel.

I remember i had a whole lot of trouble tracking down pure iron bolts and plates for my cotton candy machine i built a few years ago since i was told that most of the stuff sold in stores, including steel ones would shed flakes of ???(something bad, dont remember what) into the candy at 200C+. Wouldn't similar logic apply here?

Also what are the boiling and burning temperatures of the liquids? Do they chemically react with any commonly inert materials?

Sounds like a good list to start with... As long as the materials are of good quality...

- Cotton... Natural & unbleached.
- Nichrome or Kanthal. I've used both and like both.
- Silver solder... Just make sure it's food grade ( I use SN96AG4).
- Steel... Stick to food grade or medical grade stainless steel. Cheaper grades of stainless steel may contain lead to make them easier to machine And high carbon steels can rust and pretty sure you don't want to vape rust.

As far as liquid... PG & VG seem pretty inert. I've never heard anything about them reacting chemically with anything.
Nicotine... I used an X-Acto knife to cut the seal on a bottle with a very high concentration of nic and caused the blade to corrode pretty badly, pretty quickly... Again, high carbon steel & a nic concentration WAY higher than what you'd ever vape.

As far as temperature at the coil... Not sure what temp is required to get PG/VG to vaporize. Actual temperatures achieved vary based on the power supplied and the efficiency of the atty.

I would have to disagree that cotton is a "safe" material to use in an atomizer. Burning cotton fumes are toxic, so your design would have to include flawless juice delivery in order to be properly safe; I don't see that happening in any 'clearo' style design, personally.

yes, people use cotton in their RBA's, but I like to think that many or most of them do their homework before attempting it.
