what if you were travelling internationally.. would the ecig be confiscated? i would think so, since the atomizer gets hot and could be used as a weapon.

oh sorry, didn't know there was this section.. so many subforums.
Honestly in the right hands anything can be a weapon. An atomizer is no different. Like with most items an atomizer is not considered a weapon by security and therefor will not be confiscated. Yes it gets really hot but so do cigarette lighters and they are allowed on. I wouldnt worry about it unless the FDA bans the sale of ecigs and even then I dont see a reason why TSA would have an issue with it because the FDA doest say what is a prohibited item in airports. Technically speaking TSA isnt even looking for drugs, all TSA is there to look for is threats to the aircraft and passengers. I still wouldnt suggest bringing drugs with you on your next flight due to the amount of police officers and FBI agents that are looking for drugs though. Yes there are FBI agents in a lot of airports. Next time you see a guy with a fannypack dont judge him too much because that could be holding his badge handcuffs and firearm.

Well its been at least a year and a half because thats how long I have work with TSA. I do remember when they were banned because I worked for an airline from 2001 till 2005 and would get a metric ... ton of lighters from the passengers who would give them to me cecause they couldnt take them through the security checkpoint. I smoked at that point so I loved it.Since when are lighters allowed on planes again? About 5 years ago when I went to Las Vegas, they took all of the lighters that I had on me, saying that they weren't allowed on the plane with me. (Already had checked my luggage)
Let me apologize again because even though I am by no means the voice of TSA it is officers like that who make me look bad. I can say that there are people like that even where I work but for every one of them there are ten hard working friendly TSO's.Here's the link 13ways;
TSA: Prohibited Items
Yes, better be safe than sorry. Had an incident in Omaha. The guy was a real wiener. Took an item from me that wasn't on the list. (Not e-cig related.) When I pressed him for a reason, he called security. I ended up writing to TSA. They apologized, and sent the item back to me.
For the most part, everything is good, but you'll occasionally have a problem.
