I have searched the forums for this and I know the answer is there but I'm sorry- I just seem to have a block to understanding all this. I have found "seemingly" (to my mind) conflicting info. Could someone please tell me if I can safely use a 4 port usb wall adapter with an output 5V 2.1 amp with my Coolfire 4 which I believe is 2000mah? I would be using it with the charging cable that came with it.
Please and many thanks.

So long as its a 2 amp output you should be good to go.

...and tell devildog (Chris) that big J says hi. :)
Thank you so much for your response. I think I read somewhere that it is better for the batteries life to charge slowly- so this wouldn't be to fast?
My main concern is safety. Thank you again, Haadkoe. ps I'm sorry but don't know who devildog is.

No worries about the batteries charging too fast. Your coolfire will regulate the charging speed and rate on it's own, you just need to be sure that whatever USB port you plug it into has enough amperage to safely do the job.

I had a very dear friend from CT named Christopher Comstock. When I saw your name and location, I assumed you were related and thought it was a happy coincidence. Sorry for the confusion. :)

No worries, wish I knew him- with a name like devildog! I won't be plugging in to a USB- I'll be using the cable that came with the Coolfire to plug into wall adapter. Don't want to take any chances with my computer as I have all ports but 1 in use.

To clarify a bit, I wouldn't ever suggest plugging it into a computers USB port to charge. It's the output of the usb wall adapter I was referring to, and with a 2 amp output you're in good shape.

Keep in mind though, that 4 port outlet most likely has a 2 amp output in total, so I wouldn't plug anything into it but the coolfire. If you had 3 other things drawing power from the 4 port adapter, there might not be enough power available to charge the coolfire properly. Worst case scenario it could possibly cause damage to your electronics, or even maybe cause something inside the adapter (or elsewhere) to overheat and potentially cause a fire.
