Kit should arrive tomorrow with a SAMSUNG INR18650-25R battery. I plan to use the 1.5 coil only. My apologies if these questions are dumb but I'm confused with all the info out there.

1) Is it safe to charge the device with the battery inside via USB, or do I need to buy a seperate battery charger?

2) What is the safe range of watts to use for the 1.5 coil?

3) Would it be dangerous to, say, use 50w with a 1.5 coil? Or 5w with a 1.5 coil?

4) Is there anything that could cause this particular device and particular battery to explode, cause a fire, etc?

If I forgot to mention anything please enlighten me. Thanks!!

I am fairly new to this but I do have a subox so here goes
1 I have seen conflicting stances on this one but went with caution and ordered a proper charger. Takes a lot longer than people who have charged them with the supplied usb cable but I have two batteries so one for use one for charge.
2 the 1.5 atomiser has a branding on it that says 10w to 25w so I guess that gives you the range.
3 much as above there is the range.
4 no idea sorry but buy a decent reputable battery is the advice I was given

Hope it helps.

I have never heard of any problems using the USB but personally I always use my nitecore charger.
The Samsung INR is about as safe as you can get.
This is how you should set you power level: start low and turn it up till you like the way it vapes. That's all there is to it. There are to many variables to say this coil needs to be set at any certain point.

Hello @JSOC. Welcone to ECF. I think @james28 answered everything pretty well.

4) Is there anything that could cause this particular device and particular battery to explode, cause a fire, etc?

Your pretty safe with the subox. I suppose submerging it in water would cause the battery to vent so its best not to do that ;) seriously though as long as you dont do really silly things like putting it in water you'll be fine.

It is a nice setup. I'm sure you'll love it.

You should be just fine with that battery and mod. The Subox is limited to 50 or 60 watts IIRC, so that Sammy 25R battery is the right one. I personally prefer a stand alone charger. I think they do a better job of taking care of your batteries than an on-board charger can. If you're going to do that, get a good one, an Xtar or Nitecore or Efest LUC. You'll also find, if you use a good charger, they have readouts on them to tell you a lot about your batteries so you can guage their useful life etc. I never heard of anybody blowing one up with the onboard charger, but I have heard of some (different) mods ruining the USB connector so they thereafter couldn't be upgraded. Not a problem for you, I don't think, because the Subox doesn't have software upgrades coming AFAIK. Most subohm tank coils have the recommended wattage marked on them, those are probably good guidelines. But the rule is, start low and work up.

The only thing I'll add to that super post above is, make sure you don't over-discharge your battery. I don't know about the subox in particular, but I do know some regulated mods with the battery indicator will let you vape long past the 3.7 recommended stop-and-charge-it voltage...you may want to play with it a bit, assuming you have or can get a good charger (I actually have a spare if you need it), I'd say when your mod shows at half, stop and check the voltage just to see what the mod calls "half"...

Quick bit of help needed, my subox has started to leak a little through the air holes. It's starting to become a bit of a pain and is slowly getting worse. Is there a simple way of stopping this? Thanks James
I'm having the same problem with mine.I changed the coil, even though it didn't need it but it still leaks thru the air holes a little bit.. Usually it's caused by over priming the coil. The O rings can't be bad already. It is a pain..

If you overfill the tank it can cause leaking issues. Also if you over tighten the base it can cause leaking. You want to tighten until snug. I would also keep the tank verticle to prevent leakage.

Thanks Greeneagle.. I'm guilty of over tightening the base when I first started using it.. I hate the fact that I can't just throw it in my purse. I'm switching to something else soon :)

I am sure I haven't been over filling the tank, I only ever fill so that is maybe 2mm above the atomiser. This is probably a stupid question but when you say the base is that the base of the tank or the actual atomiser into the base of the tank. If it is I may need to back it off half a turn. Thanks James
The base of the tank, the part that has the air flow control. Don't over tighten this with the other portion of the tank.

Thanks for all the info guys. Quick question, can I charge the Subox/18650 battery with the USB wall adapter I got from my joyetech ego one 1100 kit? The USB adapter reads 5.0v=1000mA.
You can, but I'd still recommend one that lets you check voltage. Over-discharge is fairly common with the "in-mod indicator" and can lead to battery failure, or in less extreme instances, reduced battery life. If need be, you can even swing by a b&m when your mod shows about half life, ask to borrow their charger long enough to check your voltage. It'll at least give you a landmark, so to speak! I.e. if you see it at 3.9 and showing half, you know to stop around half & go ahead with a recharge...
