It usually happens on the first draw when I forget to swallow first.

That has to be the reason. I might without thinking about it breathe into it once before drawing.

It's a problem for me even though I'm aware of it. I produce a lot of saliva.

I have keep a q-tip close by and it fits nicely in most of my tanks. Every other vape or two I just clean out the chimney by sticking it down the drip tip. Also keeps you from getting juice in your mouth from excess condensation / flooding issues.

Also works good if you need to store a bottom feed tank for a while and don't feel like cleaning out the juice. Just sit it upside down with a q-tip up the drip tip. The q-tip will keep the juice from leaking down from the coil and wick the excess out of the coil so it stays fresher longer.

A good rib eye steak flavored juice will trigger copious production of saliva.
