I heard alot of people say that a 25R will outperform any new 18650 battery and people say they have a cult like following. I have used 25R,s for years there reliable, cheap and easy to find. I was wondering if anyone is still using there 25Rs or has everyone switched over to sony VTC 5As

While i wouldn't say they are the best 18650 (there are higher amp cells, and there are higher mah cells) but they are very solid all around cells. I use them in my only 18650 mod, a vicious ant spade, daily. The rest of my mods use 2x700s.
Availability is always good on them. The latest and greatest are sometimes sold out. 25Rs seem to be in ready supply everywhere. And at a good price, as well.

I have never used the 25R, but that's only because the VTC5A had already been being king of the hill for about half a year or so by the time I picked up vaping. I switched to the Vapcell rewrap of the VTC5D not too long ago, as that one runs for a bit longer than the VTC5A despite they both hit pretty much equally hard at the amp load that I typically use them at, but I also got the 5-legged iJoy 20700 at the time when the first 20700 mech came out (the Vaperz Cloud XXX), in addition to the iJoy 26650 at the time when the Vapergate The 99 came out. I switched from the 5-legged iJoy 20700 to the Vapcell Gold 30A 3100mAh 20700 because it hits harder, at the same time when I switched from the VTC5A to the VTC5D (Vapcell Black 25A 2800mAh 18650), and, at the same time also, I started to use the Vapcell rewrap of the Samsung 30T (Vapcell Purple 35A 3100mAh 21700). Most recently I switched from the VTC5D to the Samsung 20S because it wipes the floor with both the VTC5A and the VTC5D. I don't know why some people are still jumping up and down about the 25R. Maybe it's because these people just hate serious battery performance upgrades?

Battery junction had them when they first came out along with imr I believe and they was high.I can find one or two places with them as cheap as what you got them for.I got mine from a guy on eBay for 5.99$ I've known him for about 2 years so there legit.but yea they're about 9$ to 12$ everywhere.I was just joking about that other price.just saying I think they're way to high even has good as they are.would have been better if I was in person and not over the internet.my bad

Although I prefer the Sanyo UR18650NSX over the 25R, because it performs equally good, but stays a bit cooler and is a bit cheaper, the 25R is still the standard, by which all other cells are measured. It's reliable and available in large quantities. It definitely is a good one.

Unless you use a Mech and care about voltage sag, or really stress your batteries; I don't think there is much difference in whatever quality 20 to 25 Amp / 2500 to 3000mAh cell you´re using.

I use (or have used) Samsung 25Rs and 30Qs; LG HG2s and Sony VTC4/5As in the 30-40W per battery region (at most). All work just fine.

The new Sony bad boy is the VTC6A.
Outperforms the VTC5A and the VTC6 and is 3000mAh.

I like the VTC6 3000mah cell for the MAH rating. I've used Samsung 25R, LG HG2, and Sony VTC6 over the years. Mooch recently showed us the voltage sag on various batteries and the VTC6 excelled for low wattage applications. Less initial voltage sag is significant because it translates to longer vape time. If your mod isn't a current hog you can get longer vape time on the VTC6A just because it sags much less initially and proceeds down in voltage remaining above the others in it's class all the way to cutoff.

If you vape at higher amp levels you need LG or the Samsung. The VTC6 is more of a 10-15 amp cell with higher MAH that's fine for low watt vapers.

I think you're confusing the VTC6 and the VTC6A. I was referring to the VTC6A.
According to Mooch, the VTC6A is a 20-25 amp cell @ 3000 mAh that outperformed the VTC5, VTC5A, and the VTC6.

I'll have to check out the VTC6A. First I've heard about it. To date, I've used VTC6 for years. The 20A rated A version should be on my list for purchase.

ETA: I only see the VTC6A on imrbatteries.com. Will give them a try.
