Hey everyone, ive been experiencing some major battery life problems recently with my samsung 18650 25r. Ive been using this battery for about 6months now in a mech mod and over the past 2 weeks ive noticed a huge drop in the battery life/usage time. While running a .3ohm build it lasts maybe 2-3 hours or around 50-75 puffs, while running a .6 ohm build it lasts maybe, maybe 4-5 hours or around 100-120 puffs. I use a nitecore i2 intellicharger. It never overcharges and its only been taken slightly below 3.5v once or twice. Also i probably only have around 75-100 full charges. Anyone have any idea what has caused the extremely diminished battery life?
Thanks everyone

While 6 months and 75-100 cycles is not an unheard of short life span for a cell, it seems short for a 25R that's only driving .33 and .6 ohm builds. I've forgotten which wrap colors are considered the genuine for the 25R...are you sure it's not a countefeit? That few cycles would be typical for one.

What battery voltage do you get off the charger after it's finished and what do you use to measure that with? How long is an average puff for you?

My 6 25Rs have the same rings on the positive end and I know mine aren't fake.

I take that back haha. Mine DO have those rings at the top. I couldve sworn the tops looked just like my LGs but maybe I just dont pay attention. This is the newest pair I just got last month from Illumn, my other 2 are in a storage unit at the moment so maybe those were different..

Four to five hours is not bad. That's all I get out of any of my 18650's running at .8 ohms. Three 18650's a day. CHEERS!
Do you tape the button down or something? Lol

I run .8 in my Kayfun and go all day on one cell. That seems awfully short unless you switch at 3.7

75-100 charge cycles at 0.3 ohms on a mech doesn't sound unreasonable, though I'd expect better out of fresh 25Rs. My 25Rs put my VTC4s to shame, to this day, and I've had them 6 months or so now. Both from Illumn, and I did research to make sure they were authentic, even so. Yours looks like mine, so I'm gonna guess the shop sold you an authentic cell, but maybe not terribly fresh. For your future battery needs, it is significant to buy fresh stock, which usually means a high volume distributor. Illumination Supply, RTD Vapor, and Lighthound are among the best I've heard for our batteries. Not that there aren't b&m shops with fresh stock.. just that I don't have a clue there.

As far as the lower right number goes, it's a production or date code. Someone knows how to read it, you might try asking Illumn or one of the others how it's read and know in the future if you can expect six months or two years out of your cell(s).

Well ...., this morning i was having some more issues with this battery. Tossed her in my mech mod, sitting at 3.8v. I take 2-3 fires/puffs and holy ...., my firing button is scalding hot. Just the firing button, the rest of the mod is very cool. I let her sit for an hour then give her another go, same thing, after 2 fires the button is burning. I wait a few minutes so she doesnt blow up in my face and remove the battery. The sides of the battery are slightly warm but the very bottom (- side) of the battery is extremely hot, almost too hot to touch. I know this is a very bad sign but im not positive what is causing this or why this has happened? I imagine this battery has reached the end of its life and regardless im going to retire this battery and order one of the new vtc5's from vapordna as a treat to myself. :)

the hot button is indicative of a short. check your build for a short circuit (coil touching the deck, top cap, etc.) also check the positive portion of the 510 on the atty. it might have become depressed to be flush with the threaded portion, creating a short when fired. the heat youre feeling is almost guaranteed to be occurring from a short and not the battery itself.
