Samsung 25r diminished life problems

the hot button is indicative of a short. check your build for a short circuit (coil touching the deck, top cap, etc.) also check the positive portion of the 510 on the atty. it might have become depressed to be flush with the threaded portion, creating a short when fired. the heat youre feeling is almost guaranteed to be occurring from a short and not the battery itself.

Thanks, thats what it had to have been! I was using my atlantis at the time, which i had dropped recently and the tank broke between the 510 and the airflow, after gripping the two pieces back together, the 510 connection doesnt stick out nearly as far as it did before the break. :nah:Damn thing must have been shorting out.:danger:

glad to help. yeah the atlantis has a fairly depressed 510 as it is, im sure after the drop is damn near flush. you can press the 510 out on the atlantis, but ultimately it is floating in the insulator and usually itll go back in one you thread it onto your mod, but you can at least bring it back to where the factory had it. all you do is remove the coil-head and use a long skinny object to push the 510 outwards.

Well ****, this morning i was having some more issues with this battery. Tossed her in my mech mod, sitting at 3.8v. I take 2-3 fires/puffs and holy ****, my firing button is scalding hot. Just the firing button, the rest of the mod is very cool. I let her sit for an hour then give her another go, same thing, after 2 fires the button is burning. I wait a few minutes so she doesnt blow up in my face and remove the battery. The sides of the battery are slightly warm but the very bottom (- side) of the battery is extremely hot, almost too hot to touch. I know this is a very bad sign but im not positive what is causing this or why this has happened? I imagine this battery has reached the end of its life and regardless im going to retire this battery and order one of the new vtc5's from vapordna as a treat to myself. :)

This has nothing to do with the battery. You have high resistance between contact surfaces in your mod's switch assembly. In other words, the switch parts are dirty and need to be cleaned.

You didn't mention what mod you have so I have no idea what the switch looks like. You need to completely disassemble it and look at all the surfaces that mate and conduct electricity when you hit the button. These surfaces need to be clean enough to conduct properly or they will get hot. Yes this is dangerous if you get the battery hot enough to vent. There is no way to stop that reaction once it starts and once in a while this has caused a mod to explode. Stop using the mod until you get it cleaned up and the heat-up stops.

Here's a great thread on how to clean mods so there are no high resistance contact surfaces. Do read past the first post, there is a lot more info there. Hope this helps :)
