"One worry is that electronic vapor devices are often marketed in appealing -- fruit and candy-like -- flavors, which can be a tactic for enticing youth to use the product," the supervisors wrote in their letter. "This increases the potential for nicotine addiction among young people."

Caffeine is addictive. They have many different -- fruit and candy-like -- flavors. How about food, which leads to obesity and related health problems that stem from obesity, and amounts to more money spent on healthcare than tobacco use each year, and IS fruit and candy? Since they are worried about children and addiction, why not go after their cellphones and social media? What about video games? Yes, nicotine is addictive, but so are many things. vaping has little to no negative health effects, according to studies. Where are the super-lawyers when there is a good cause?

This exactly. I wish I could go on TV and say this.

After I forwarded CASAA's alert to Dale at Cal NORML, he sent an alert to their members and likely the media (as the proposals also would ban use of medical pot vaporizers).

Cal NORML Emergency Consumer Alert:
Beverly Hills, San Diego County Moving to Ban E-Cigarettes and Vaporizers
TUESDAY NOV 5th
San Diego Board of Supes 9AM - Beverly Hills City Council 7 PM

Prohibitionists are on the warpath to deny consumers access to smokeless e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes are broadly defined to include devices that can vaporize nicotine or any other substance, including medical .........!. These proposals are a slap in the face to countless medical ......... patients, who are already prevented from smoking their medicine by current anti-smoking laws and have no recourse than to use smokeless vaporizers to inhale their medicine.
• In San Diego Co, the Board of Supervisors is holding 9 AM hearings on a bill to ban e-cigs/vaporizers in non-smoking areas. The evidence is overwhelming that e-cigarettes and vaporizers are effective in eliminating harmful toxins from smoke, and pose negligible risk of harm to secondhand bystanders, but opponents are trying to scare the public into believing they pose unacceptable risks. Text of San Diego proposal: <http://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/CASAND/2013/11/01/file_attachments/248561/05%2BNov%2B2013_Regular_agendaFINAL.pdf>, page 31.
• In Beverly Hills, the City Council is holding 7 PM hearings on an emergency ordinance to ban ALL SALES of e-cigs/vaporizers! The upshot would be that it would remain legal to sell cigarettes in BH, but the sale of vaporizers that have been proven to eliminate smoke toxins would be banned!

Tell lawmakers to stand up for consumers' rights. E-cigs and vaporizers have proven harm reduction benefits; to ban them will only have adverse public health effects. Many former smokers report they have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigarettes. If you can't attend Tuesday's hearings, please make your views known to the responsible officials in S.D. and B.H. ASAP.

Anyone taken a stroll down the vodka aisle at the liquor store lately?

I saw "Birthday Cake" and "Cotton Candy" flavored vodkas, among others, on a trip to VONS recently; but that's not "a tactic for enticing youth to use the product"...?!?

Liars, one and all.

There are two direct contacts for this motion...

Lindsey Masukawa (Dave Robert's district)
(619) 531-5533

Stephanie Gioia (Ron Robert's district)
(619) 531-5544

I have not been able to speak with them directly yet.
I did, however, receive information from a staffer named Brett in Dave Robert's district.

It seems that they have asked for more time to research this issue.
And apparently they have scheduled for March 11th to present their findings to the board.

Brett has told me that they will probably not make any decisions during that meeting, just listen to the findings.
She told me that she will call me back if she is told that decisions may in fact be made at that time.

I will be following up directly with Lindsey and Stephanie.
I encourage all San Diego vapers to do the same.
