Sanding down post screws

Has anyone tried to sand down their screws that screw into their rda posts?
If I sand mine down, do you think i will be able to still screw it in or will the threads be messed up

Okay, I'm looking to shave off a good amount, not just dull the tip. If I shave off a decent part of the bottom of the screw, will it still thread into the post correctly?

After you've got it to length, lightly file (or sand) around the tip at an angle only making strokes towards the bottom to put a slight bevel on the end. Works every time.

If you know the size of the screw, you could always go to Amazon and possibly find a die to run that screw thru to make sure of the start of the thread. They aren't that expensive.

Ya, I sand and then polish mine on a lathe so they don`t cut the wire. I like to leave little bullet heads on them. Then I run them through a die to clean up the threads. Pretty much have to do this with everything I buy.

Find a nut or two that fit the threads and screw them on before you sand or grind. When you unscrew them, they will straighten the threads back out. Of course, if they really bind up when taking them off, you may need to use a small jewelers file and clean up the threads. There is always the option of buying a die and cleaning up the threads that way.
