I got started vaping on my own a few years ago with a disposable njoy ciga-like. I began researching online and found ECF. Purchased my first rechargable ciga-like starter kit soon after, but quickly moved up to a mod a month later. I didn't know any other vapers in the wild for my first few months of vaping. I pretty much owe all my knowledge to the veterans on ECF at the time, and I continue to pay-it-forward to the members of ECF.

We (Fiance and I) got started by seeing the disposable cig a likes in the dollar store. We tried those then started researching online and found SmokelessImage and Altsmoke. We reviewed youtube vids by SteelJan. She was Ultimately what decided us on ecigs... So thank you SteelJan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While we're both here , I want to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU - TO YOU BAD!!!!
You won't know it, but you led me along the path to better vaping in my earlier days when I took the plunge to carto tanks, and ProVari's!!! So THANK YOU SIR, you have certainly been a blessing to many of us here along our vaping journeys as well!!! :nun:

I want to thank all the people who said 'just buy a ProVari'!'.

In Sept 2013 I grabbed a Blu kit on a whim. It was enough to convince me of the possibilities so I got online and started researching - which lead me to ECF. It was quite the time with interesting threads LOL. I kept reading and decided to skip the ego/twist options and go straight to ProVari. I was determined to quit and wanted something that would be there for me. It worked. I've never been to a B&M or talked to a vaper in the wild. The helpful and supportive people here on ECF have been the key to success on my journey. Thank you all.

I thank the folks here on ECF and especially Baditude for the education and support I needed to continue to vape and to find the right products and use them safely. But a big thank you should go to the sales person in the vape shop--who recognized I was a 'sucker' and sold me WAY more than I needed. Even though he did that he gave me some great advice and I took that advice to heart. He said--don't go in to this with the attitude that you are going to 'quit smoking' go in to it with the attitude that--"I will use this but if I want to smoke I will smoke". For my personality that was perfect advice--within 1 week I was smoke free and haven't had a strong desire to smoke cigarettes since. Everyone in my life could not believe that I gave up cigarettes because they all had the belief that I was so hardcore--that I could never quit. My father was a smoker and had his first heart attack at 48, and several bypass surgeries and finally a heart transplant and all the doctors completely attributed his heart problems to smoking. Even that did not motivate me to truly want to quit. But I honestly had tried everything out there to try to quit--none of it worked, and the truth was that I did really enjoy smoking and really did not want to quit.

I smoked the same brand of cigarettes for 32 years--there was no really bad residual smell in my house, car, hair, clothes etc. When the Tobacco Act was passed and the FDA took over--Brown and Williamson quit making my brand. There was a great guy at a convenience store that I had purchased by the carton from for years, and when they were eliminated--he stocked up as much as he could for me. That served me for about 6 months. When the supply finally ran out I made the switch to another popular brand in a gold box.

Soon after that-- the flame resistance paper was law and that is when the problem began. The smell of stale smoke was so bad in my house, my car, on me, I could hardly even stand to walk in to my own home or get in my own car, and I was sure people wanted to run from the smell on me! So I began to think that at my age I really did need to start thinking seriously about quitting.

I purchased a Blu system and that commitment lasted about a day, because the batteries would run out--I was busy and did not have time to fool with the hassle so I would pick up the cigs and smoke on. But the stink got worse and worse.

In June of 2013--I decided that if Blu was out there there must be other things that could work so I looked up a local Vape Shop and went to buy whatever it would take for vaping to work for me. The sales people recognized a sucker and sold me MORE than I needed but instructed me how to use the ego battery and T3 tank that I purchased. The sales person also told me about ECF, I wrote down the info but did not immediately visit the forum. My goal was to cut down and hopefully cut down on the smell. I really did not intend to quit but within one week I was smoke free--and I was stunned. About a month later, I decided I wanted to learn more about vaping so that I could help other people and finally visited and joined this forum.

I think that the information here helped keep me on course and as I continued to educate myself and learn about new products--I never looked back.

So thanks to that Sales person and to all here on ECF who have been so willing to share!

I have to thank, and have thanked many times over, my husband for first suggesting that I look into ecigs.

I started researching and everything I looked at lead me back to ECF. So I started reading the new members section. One member's journey really resonated with me. It was this thread: Journey Journal of Coastie where I read of his struggles and he was getting some success. I thought, if he is willing to give this a shot, I can too.

It was many stories of so many people on ECF that helped me find my first ecig. It is the friendship and support of ECF members that Keep me focused and on this continuing journey.

So I say "Thank You" to all of you!

My brother is the one that got me started. He researched and started vaping. With his research to fall back on, I matched every step he took for a while. We both settled for a long time on dripping on a 306. He still does. I became dissatisfied after about 9 months or so and finally came to ECF to find my own way.

Where did my brother get most of his information? ECF. So, it was a combination of my brother's determination and self-confidence and ECF (even from the very beginning).

    ECF makes all the difference!

Many moons ago, I was sitting in a VA hospital waiting for a friend to finish up with his appointment. I noticed a Blu e-cig advertisement in a magazine and thought it would be a nice alternative to smoking. Didn't really give it more thought until about 4 years ago when I decided that I really should find an alternative. That's when I started to do my research and found that getting a Blu up here in Canada was going to be virtually impossible. A friend of mine on an IRC channel gave me a couple of recommendations on what to look for, and while looking up those kits, I stumbled upon ECF. The rest, as they say, is history.

I was working with a client six years ago, and he had this newfangled contraption that looked like a cigarette, but sure didn't SMELL like a cigarette. We got to talking, and I ended up ordering a Magma kit from Volcano. It truly was a novelty thing - the battery life was HEINOUS for me, but I wasn't smart enough to find you guys 'n' gals yet.

After a couple of hesitant starts (and watching my Uncle die from Lung Cancer) I finally got back in the saddle in February, 2014. By March 10, 2014, I'd smoked MY LAST CIGARETTE :)

So, the FIRST thank you is a shout out to Matt (who doesn't work for that client any more) for lighting my way. And then a GINORMOUS shout to you folks here for all your wisdom, advice, laughter and on rare occasion, tears.... I'm honored to make your acquaintances :)

My thanks to everyone here who finally pointed me in the right direction of gear that has worked well for me. From a cigalike Vuse that did get me off cigs, to the clearo I "graduated" to before finding this place, and now to my ludicrous amount of gear stuck into desk drawers and corners of the room. Oh, and my inability to buy frozen food thanks to all the nic in there, it's been a long and winding road. I never would have made it this far without all the folks here.

My dentist (in Mexico) recommended vaping, on May 10th 2013, after he extracted two molars and then watched me attempt to light a cigarette outside of his office door. After I stopped screaming in pain, he handed me an Njoy disposable ...

I thank him by sending him new patients every chance I get ... :D
