A multimeter won't fire the carto when checking resistance, but the ProVari does. Don't use a ProVari to check a dry carto :) I use the 1.7 Smoktechs frequently, and there does tend to be some QC issues going on there as of late. I metered one on the provari one time and watched it start at 1.3, go up to 2.5 and then OP (open circuit, dead carto).

There is an argument that every ecig user should own a cheap multimeter as it makes it much easier to diagnose problems - or avoid them in the first place.
I totally agree. If any suppliers are paying attention here, they would source or design a combination ohm AND volt meter with a 510 connection just like the voltage-only displays that have become so popular. They'd have a sale with me :) Keeping a multimeter with a small "vaping junk" pouch in the car or at work is probably not an option, but a small ohm/volt display would have a place I think.Everybody who vapes, modder or not, should check their atty for shorts or unusual resistance. It's a bit foolish to only check one part of the equation, the voltage, without knowing what's happening on the other end.
