schizophrenia and nicotine

Does anyone have any info on nicotine as a treatment for schizophrenia? I remember reading about it somewhere.

Info on nicotine being used for aspergers, tourettes, or learning disabilities would be appreciated too. (I have no clue if they use it for these 3 or not, but I figured I'd ask.)

I assume your or someone you know has schizophrenia. I have never heard of nicotine affecting this mental illness although it does produce a calming effect. A larger percentale of people with mental illness smoke.
I think this is due to trying to self medicate.

I would guess to say that nicotine in itself wouldnt cause any severe increase or decrease in behavior.
the article vaping for the mentally impaired is correct lots of people with psychological illnesses try to self-medicate, so if these people can smoke with the maois in there, im sure just plain nicotine wouldnt be all that bad.

Not sure about all those studies and Im not making fun either! But I had a batt quit,no way to replace and I chain vape. Well I "Freaked"!! Whats that all about? Im normally pretty stable. Hmmm...
