The Virus has been my ADV for like 9 months now, and I love it. That whole time I've vaped it in an EVOD tank with Micro-coil/cotton heads, on a stock evod/ego battery. Problem I have is I can only get thru the second tank before the juice is dark and scorched (for lack of a better word) and I have to dry-burn, and rewick, and rinse out my tank.

I just got a Sub-Tank Mini, but I haven't been able to use it yet, because I have a really bad cold or flu or something, and waiting to get better before I delve into the world of upping my wattage.

My question is if anyone has any experience with the Subtank with virus, and if they could share it. Are RTA's less prone to scorching the juice in the tank? I hope so.

I'd say a lot of this is will also play in with your vaping habits. I vaped virus in a kanger evod tank for months. I vaped a whole 30 mil bottle through it. But, I vaped on it about a max 1.30h a day, 4 days a week because I only used it at work (on breaks.) I used a coil head about once a month, and my juice never got quite scorch black. I just no longer got any good vapor. Thinking about it, I'd fill the little evod every night. So I did get more tank fulls, without having that issue.
I'm not sure exactly what is causing that to happen to you.
How steeped do you keep your virus on hand? The darker the juice already is the gunkier it usually gets.

What I will say is my boyfriend is a light to medium vaper and he got about a week and a half out of a coil head in a sub tank mini.

I don't steep my virus. I actually like the FOOB taste, and the evolution of the 60ml bottle which last me like 3 weeks or so. The liquid just gets dark when nearing the end of the 2nd tank full, and If I fill it a third time, it gets harsh, makes me cough, and develops a taste which I don't like. All is fine after a dry burn, and rewick, or head change.

I've tried wicking tighter, and looser, and still pretty much have the same result.

I have run a few tanks of the Virus through the Sub tank mini and have had no discoloration..the 6mg I am using thou is a bit much for me...radio for me is smoothest in the subtank at 6mg :)

anyway, I havent had the discoloration in the subtank...i get it from the REO though...i think part of that is because I let the wick get dry too often hehe

I haven't had any problem with my Subtank burning the Virus in the week or so that I've had it. I had one coil that went kinda flat tasting so I changed it out, and have a couple that I've used for really different flavors. I go through about 8 or 9 ml a day with the Subtank and had to cut the nic down from 18mg to 6mg, it uses a lot more juice than the Nautilus Mini. The good thing is I can rewick the pre built coils so once I get near the end of my current supply I'll start doing that.

Betelgeuse has been my biggest problem, some of my BVC coils wouldn't even last a day, I can deal with buying lots of juice, but having to run down more coils at irregular intervals from out here in BFE was a real pain. I don't have any 6mg Betelgeuse so I have no idea what it will do to the OCC coils in the Subtank, but at least I'll be able to fix it with out a long drive.

Thanks so much for all the replies!

I don't mind dry-burning and rewicking. In fact that's why I just bought an RTA anyway, so I could dry burn really good w/o burning insulators up.

Just waiting for this cold/flu to go away, and to get some lower nic Virus to try this sub-tank out. From 12, I should step right down to 3, is what I'm gathering?

If you rebuild your own coils I recommend lose (not touching the wraps) coils. If scorching is an issue this will help. :)

Thanks, Megan. That is how I plan on doing it in the Subtank, but I had to do micro's in the pt/evod heads for stability. I'll still have to use the ego styled setup at work, so Maybe I'll try a spaced 30awg and dig out that spool of P&C yarn I never used. I'll have to give that a try.

If you already have some 12mg, get some 0mg then you can easily make what every you need and figure it out pretty quick. I ordered 0mg some to ease the step down from 18mg to 12mg in my Nautilus mini, worked out well when I needed to use it to cut the 12mg to 6mg. I ordered a new set of my regulars in 6 and next time Betelgeuse goes on sale I get enough 0mg to cut whatever I have to whatever strength I'm using. I hate to have bottles of juice sitting around that are too strong to be useable when there bigger that 15ml.

bover907 I picked one up and it's now my new go to tank for the Virus. Megan nailed it, the spaced coil has given me some distance on my coils. I use the RBA section and dry burn and rewick pretty quickly. I really like this tank because it is so easy to re-wick. 26ga at 1Ω is my go to for the Virus.

    Enjoy!
