well im actualy iceman i got that name when i was 9 and started dj'ing i was looking for a dj name and robbie rob wasnt gonna cut it. after a bout a week of trying to find a name my brother noticed how "cool" i was on the decks He said that no matter what i could not be rattled so he started calling me iceman(whos cooler?)i got it again when i statred battle rapping, cause i couldnt be shook in the heat of battle i got recristend the name when i started fighting mma cause before every fight i would sleep in the locker room and not get nervous. now bigicedog came about when i tried to join a site and iceman was taken, and it suggested other names i could use and the only one on the list i liked was bigicedog.so now i go by both.My Avatar is a fighter profile pic from a promotion i used to fight for.(i won my last title with them) and its my way of bragging about myself a little lol

mine is from way back in the days of IRC, so i've been using this name for going on er..well, 14 years now. (wow that makes me feel old lol. )

the story was that there was a bunch of us all sitting around trying to come up with names that we liked (there was a group of us that was usually online together) and i couldn't think of anything...for some reason someone actually said "GASP!" and i just ran with it.

Wow ... this thread is a great read!

I've had my nick for a long time. Back when I first got online (hate to think about how long ago), and needed a moniker, SailCat just happened to pop into my head. It's from an old monologue ny Jonathon Winters involving fast traffic, slow kitties and the result which can be skimmed like a Frisbee. It's always tragic when I try to explain it be hilarious in Winters' version.

My 'avatar' (such as it is) is a candid photograph taken at a competitive kite fly in Yakima, WA. I was asked 'cause I'm a stunt kite flier and a musician who's comfortable on stage. I hate to have my picture taken but had no idea I was in someone's viewfinder. I'll put this in my profile when I find a suitable avatar.

My av is one I have been using since shortly after 9/11. I ran up on it browsing the web and after a little research, found the young girl responsible for what I believe to be an image that grabbed my soul immediately. Below is a link to the article that tells us why she created the image. I bought multiple items with this image from her and the monies have gone to a great cause, her schooling. Thank you Eliza Gauger. You are a very talented lady.

'Mommy Liberty' Packs a Gun

My name is as stated....His Gator Girl.

NCC: They're not my initials, first of all. But, they've followed me almost everywhere I've been online for 15 years.

On March 25, 1994, I bought a 1995 Dodge Neon. I was proud of it and decided to get a vanity tag. Being a bit of a Star Trek fan, I applied for NCC1701. But, it was taken. Standing in line, I had to make a quick second choice, and NCC NEON came to mind. That was my tag for years, and I had an official looking "Starfleet Academy" decal in the rear window to go along with it.

But, the next year I got my first internet account and for the time I was on AOL, I was NCC Neon. When I registered, being an internet newbie, I was not anticipating the need to create a handle, and my car's vanity tag came to mind ... AOL accepted it (and so NCC online began). I still use that handle on YouTube, and have used it on other social sites as well. I've also used NCC1701 on another forum.

When I registered on ECF I shortened it to NCC. Truthfully, I didn't know if a three character handle would be accepted, but there it is.

FWIW, I once spent a few hours searching for what the meaning of NCC was on Star Trek. The most reliable answer was that it actually doesn't 'stand for' anything at all. But, several times when I was driving an early release and still uncommon Neon I was asked if it stood for National Car Club, LOL. Ok, this was long winded as hell. But, NCC and me go back 16 years.

P.S. My 1994 1/2 Neon died of motor failure in January 2008. I drove it 'til the wheels fell off, a decade after it was paid off. It was bought by a mechanic who owned another 1st edition Neon. So parts of NCC NEON live on.

Sigh, my screen name is boring. I was born in Indiana. I always liked the various stories as to how the term Hoosier was started.

My avatar is actually me dressed as Mongo last year. (It's a GenCon thing. A group of us have dressed up as Mel Brooks characters for the last few years and do a dance number for the costume contest. This year we are doing Men In Tights and I will be Little John.)

Most of the other posts are much more entertaining.
