Has anyone sold old supplies on ECF before? I've been taking stock and I have a few RoyalSmokers cartos, 808 cartos, lr 510 atties and various juices that I'd like to get rid of. I'd been saving them for a possible PIF post but PIF looks like it is toast.

What I'm wondering is how do you calculate shipping for various random sized items? eg: 2 boxes of cartos and 90ml of juice. I'd hate to sell something for like $20 and then find out at the post office shipping is $14.

Sparky, best suggestion is once you and the person buying the stuff from you have agreed in principle to the deal...

...before they send you any payment, get their address first & then take the stuff to the post office so you can get a specific shipping quote. That way you'll both know the cost before you finalize things, & can change your minds if you want.

rachelcoffe: I think I'll go that route - was wondering how people can be all "buy 40 cartos for $30 shipped" in the US forum, and then the shipping costs them $15? Unless US postage is cheaper? I guess people selling only a mod will know how big a bag the mod will fit in and what shipping would come out to for that item.

TheFlyinJ: Jack at HappyVaper.com recommends they be used only with an eGo, even though they are the same size as a 510 atomizer. I've never used a 510 battery, only ego, 3.7v, 6v, 7.4v. Here's the link to the atomizer's page:

Canadian electronic cigarette Happy/Joye eGo low resistance 510 atomizer (atomiser) - Black, Silver

They taste pretty good, I don't drip any more though. Boge 3 ohm carto at 6v in the AVS is doing pretty good for me today.

The States have flat rate shipping boxes, whatever you can fit in the box, for a flat fee $4.95. OTOH here in Canada, Canada Post is a little trickier. I can send you 10 x 3ml bottles of liquid for $1.29 something, or send you 1 x 30ml for $11 something. It is all about size. Canada Post do have their rates posted. My digital kitchen scale is a handy tool.

Canada Post offeres flat rate evelopes. For e-cigarette supplies, they work as good as boxes, speaking as a business that never boxes anything.

There are two options, regional, which is your province and the next one to it at around $10 for a #2 mailer size or national which is anywhere in Canada for $13ish.. As an aside, Canada post does offer eBay mailers, but that is part of their small business program.

The quick and easy is charge your buyer $10 if they are in province, $15 if they are out, stick it in a pre-paid Xpresspost envelope and you will be covered. (I am assuming here you are shipping nothing larger than say 2 eGO kit boxes for example)

The other way is go to Canada Posts website with the address you are shipping to, play around with options and size of the package till you get the lowest option possible. Low rates like $2.00 for a bottle of juice are possible, but that would go untracked. Xpresspost, tracked and within 3 days has a base price of around $8-9 bucks for something letter sized, with the same price for something shoe boxed sized so packing is a bit less critical as long as it doesn’t extend 1cm into the next rate class..

Shipping in the US is cheaper because everything is closer and more densely populated. The population of NY is almost greater than Canada, all in one small area, making it much more cost effective for a courier company.

I have been asked a couple of times about a busienss account with CP and never looked into it. I'm not in business. But Rob at Evapers does ship cheaper than I can.

You can apply online for a Venture One card. Anyone can get one regardless of the amount of business you do. I believe you will get your number right away to take to the post office. Only catch is, this program only saves about 10% of regular rates. So for a one time $15 shipment its not worth the effort. It does however give you the option to use Expedited, which is a service right in-between regular parcel and Xpresspost in both time and price.

Canada Post business accounts are based on volume. Also it takes better than a week to setup, and some sales guy will want to come out an meet you in person (waste of time, I talked my way out of that). You have to be shipping multiple packages daily for them to give you any decent discounts here.

The discounts that apply on the venture 1 card require bulk purchases. Canada Post offers bulk pre-paid envelopes at an additional 5% off when you buy in quantities of 10 or more.

Not very useful for a one time purchase - but if you plan on selling off all your old stuff, and you have quite abit - it's a worthwhile purchase.

Hey Kat,

You are wrong about it only being bulk. If you take an addressed package to the desk, run it Xpresspost without the card, it cost about 5-10% more.

I used to ship this way, and there were times I forgot to give them my venture one card to swipe. As soon as noticed, we would redo the shipping at the lower Venture One price.
