My twisted build works great too. I've tried claptons, fused claptons, SS316 and 304 in TC mode, and twisted kanthal is the best build for me. In this tank twisted coil gives you the best flavour, no matter 2 wires or 3 wires, 26 or 28g. Twisted builds in serpent are just splendid!
Your post made me curious, so I put a 28g twisted coil in my SS serpent this morning. I have a few of these Wotofo "comp wire" tubes in 28g twisted, tiger, quad twisted, so I figured it'd be a good time to put them to use.

I definitely like it better than the MKWS Clapton wire build it replaced, but I really think I don't care for that wire.

Has anyone flown with their Serpent yet? I have a trip coming up & wonder if the tank will leak with the juice control closed or not?
Although it's not air tight even with the JFC closed I flew with mine at Christmas and leakage was minimal. No more than I get with them on their side in the travel case all day.

I flew with mine last weekend. Actually had 2 in my carry on bag. I did close the JFC on both and they barely leaked...well, kind of weeped...just a little out the air flow, not really a leak. I could not even tell a difference in the juice level, so it was very minimal.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried a vertical build in this yet?

I would think that a vertical build would have extremely long legs and wicking might be a challenge the way this deck is designed JMHO

The problem is, I believe, that the air hole on the deck is so wide that a there will be a lot of excess air not hitting the coil. The pressure of the air hitting the coil will also be quite weak with the AFC almost closed off.

What I did was I bought a 5mm OD/3mm ID PTFE tube on ebay, and stuffed a small piece of it in the deck air hole. It is still a quite airy MTL, but the vapor is way denser. I will try to restrict it even further (somehow).

I found a PTFE tube on Amazon (Fluorotherm F015083 - 1 Metric PTFE Tubing, 3 mm ID x 5 mm OD, 1' Length, Semi-Transparent: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific) and will give it a try. If it needs more restriction, I can insert a 3mmOD/2mmID tube section. I ordered the smaller PTFE tube by mistake when I saw a link in the Taifun thread. Stupid me...thought I was on this Serpent thread!

I just love my Serpent, didn't think I would but it tops my Obs Crius & the Geekvape Griffin. I was dying to get the Griffin & I just can't like it as much as the Serpent. @jstrong I understand why you sold one & threw the other in the trash. I'll keep trying different builds on it to try to get it to work better but it's "THE SERPENT ALL THE WAY"!

Been using mine for about a week now.the only gripe i have with this tank is the leakage from it when refilling. It does stop leaking by adding the oring like the suggestions shared here and i took that oring from my aromamizer spares and burping it upside-down when tightening the topfill cap. The flavor and cloud is amazing! I know some might not agree with me but i love this serpent more than aromamizer or stm. Its my adv rta now and if they ever come up with v2 that could possibly workaround the leakage, that would be perfect!

I threw a Griffin in the trash because the grub screws kept stripping  I hated that that tank

So I have been building on this for a couple days, how the hell do you get the flavor? I am getting great production but muted flavor big time.
A large-ish coil ID seems to help for me, right now I'm using a 3mm ID fused clapton in one serpent, and a 3mm ID twisted 28g coil in another. What type of build are you running?

For me, making the coil large enough to cover the diameter of the airflow in the base seems to help.

Yes a 3mm ID, and pretty spaced helps too.

Build the coil as close as you can above the airhole.

I just threw one of those on, and it worked, to a degree. The flavor is much better than it was.

2.5mm ID twisted 26 will try a 3mm tonight when I get home. Between flavorless and dry hits it has been frustrating.

Good advise IMO. I've settled on twisted triple 3.5mm, ~2mm above the hole, with big wicks ending at the deck. Juicy flavorful vape, and still plenty of airflow.
