Does anyone know if OrbTronic sells the batteries in pairs or singles? The images tend to show a pair, however I'm not certain
They'll send you however many you order in the quantity box. Prices are per each. If you order in pairs, that is multiples of two, you get a free plastic battery box included, which is very handy for storing batteries when you're not using them.

EDIT: I think they have a maximum limit of 20 batteries of one kind.

With that being said, I ordered 3 single batteries and not 3 pairs of batteries, correct?

No, the VTC4 is not available in a 2500 mAh version. Its capacity is 2100 mAh. The VTC5 has a capacity of 2600 mAh. For 90% of all applications-- anything below a 20A draw-- they are interchangeable parts, differing only in battery life, with the VTC5 having slightly more. In high amperage conditions, the VTC4 is a better selection, despite the lower battery life, because it will tolerate amp loadings to above 20 and up to 30 without dangerous overheating. The VTC5 will not tolerate amp loadings above 20A, and is likely to fail under those conditions, possibly dangerously. And don't worry about being picky about the details. I understand your situation and know you have to get it right.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Sony stopped producing batteries a couple of years ago. idk three year old batteries sound somewhat unsafe.

That is incorrect. I have several VTC4s-- I think I bought 4-- from last year with a 2015 date code on them. Sony did not stop manufacturing batteries. For a while there, they stopped selling them to the US-- they don't like vapers, for some reason, despite the fact we pay top dollar, cash on the nail-- but this policy lapsed also, probably when they bent over and took it in the wallet with no grease.

Or so I hear, anyway. Let me ping @Mooch , if he's around. I'm pretty sure Sony still makes batteries. What would they do with all that capital investment sunk into battery plants otherwise?

Really? If that's true I'll be buying some, very interested in what Mooch says.

Read the post above yours. Mooch replied.

Authentic Sony batteries are available from reputable battery suppliers.
