I am a 43 year old mother of 2 and the boys I work with was shocked when they seen me vaping and even more shocked that I knew all about building coils! I don't chase clouds but I like to build due to the lower cost of not having to buy replacement coils. I know how to do the complicated coils but choose not to because I don't like to sub ohm.

I've found locally that the guys in the vape stores don't much care for a woman who can build, and that those stores are pretty much boys clubs. I don't go to them anymore. One was a vapor lounge, where you could hang out, build and socialize your vaping. Turned out to be the biggest boys club of them all and I was not treated well there, I guess because I didn't bring a man with me. I've no use for the B&M's at all anymore.

I can only say that my real satisfaction in vaping came after a visit to Finnvape in Fuengirola in Spain, after getting good advice after talking at length to the assistant and came out with my first iStick and Nautilus Mini - I was also greatly impressed with the big rig the counterperson was vaping on and the mega clouds it produced.

Ditto in the vape shop in Torremolinos when I bought my second rig and my first premium juice.

Back in Fuengirola a few weeks later I got great info on coil building and came out with wire and Japanese cotton.

Last time I was in there just before we flew back to the UK the staff were advising a group of Spanish women who were in to buy base liquids and nicotine to make their own juices.

Oh by the way - did I mention all these staff were women?

It's great that you build your own. It is easy. You however are in the minority of women vapers. I've dealt with enough to know. Most don't know, don't want to know, don't care.

Instead of being mad at someone judging you from their experiences maybe be mad at the majority of women who don't rebuild and don't want to be bothered learning.

You are the exception as are most of the women on this forum and are in a minority of female vapers.

In fact most of us here are in the minority of vapers. They keep building and selling pre built heads, vape shops keep opening up and selling items at ridiculous prices. Someone is buying that stuff at those prices and I doubt they're here on this forum.

I dont know, maybe it's
because i possess all of the personality and warmth of the concrete median strip that runs thru I-76 in Akron--but I never encounter sexism. I am a scientist, by trade. And I don't care about anything, except my Mom and my animals. And you guys :D lololol

Some people are just..........yea.
Same thing I see in the trucking industry, but ya know what.....the woman that I have come across can drive the [edited] out of a truck. Same thing with hunting/shooting. My daughter and wife can shoot a hell of a lot better than most of the guys at our hunting cabin. Screw em. Build on!

Love me a truckin' woman.

You know she can take some poopoo. And dish it out.

These ladies go through through serious sexism... and racism... it's ridiculous to say the least.

Most women don't build coils for the same reason most women don't do their own oil changes in their car. They simply aren't interested in anything mechanical.

There was a study a few years ago that asked women what their single most important thing that they look for in a car was. The number one answer....... Cup Holders.

Obviously there are exceptions to the rule. Unfortunately, my wife isn't one of them. In fact she was all ready to throw her mod away yesterday because she kept getting a "check atomizer" error. I opened it up, cleaned the spring loaded pin that she had allowed to get so grimed up that it wouldn't move, and like magic, it worked. She was so impressed.

The keyword is in the OP's first comment and it just shows the immaturity of the 'boys" and the sexist nature of many in this world. Years ago when I owned an auto repair shop I hired a woman as a mechanic and she was one darn good technician!

Looks like you need to find a better shop. Sadly, vaping in general is stereotypically male. But there are B&Ms out there that don't have a closed minded attitude towards women builders. I've had way too many experiences like yours, in the past. Talking to me like a child or like I shouldn't be using such big, scary, too complicated for my little female brain to comprehend equipment, will not get you a sale ( or any future business). I have since found the mecca of vape shops. Great juice (both premium and house), prices competitive with the internet, and the most awesome staff. The first time I walked in, the guy there said "Wow, you're the first female vaper I've seen carrying a Reuleuax" He said it in a good way, like it was so cool. It let me know, he pays attention to his customers, as well. Now I have a place I can go regularly, just to hang out and geek out about vape stuff. I have never felt as comfortable, anywhere else. So look around, you are bound to find a place that will provide your needs, without being a poo-head.

I dunno I don't really see it. I've been to lots of meets and even nationwide events and I see plenty of women, in fact there are alot of women posting on this very thread some of which I happen to know are great builders and DIY'ers. It might be more pronounced at a smaller local level but it's definitely not a large scale problem like it is in other industries such as trucking, construction, sports media or even believe it or not emergency services.

In my area there is a Vape Lounge I found online that is owned by a woman or her and her husband but she is a main character in the pictures/video that they have online. In my local B&M Vape shop when I am there many women or young ladies come in and get treated the same or better than some of the younger men. I have seen women there who know more about vaping then some guys claim to.
