Great compilation there Karen, I am still using same setup except using the 2 strands doubled over so effectively 4 strands. I probably didn't write it correctly. Pretty sure JCOkie is using same setup too instead of the Bamboo.

Gratz on that volcano you created! Great feeling isn't it?

Yep, looks great, Karen!!! Ratman is right: that's the set up I'm using. I use four strands (two doubled) and it gives me a perfect vape. BUT....I think I'd O.D. for sure if I tried using 32mg nic juice! Wow.

I made another coil/wick last night. I did double the cotton this time, so it is thicker. I would like to have a few made to put in if no time to make one.

Did notice that it will not be tough at all to get a 2.5 ohm with this 32 Kanthal wire. I metered and adjusted the coils a few times just to learn a little more of what I can get.

My daughter Kim put on the stock coil/wick on hers and had an immediate spring collapse when she fired. She did not meter it and didn't know about hot spots or coils touching posts, or each other.

We are both learning with this RBA thing. I have ordered her a ohm meter like I bought. It is fantastic to hold the base when you are putting in your coil.

I need to realign my posts. The holes are facing wrong. That I will do when I remove this setup.

Wanted to post these as I had talked about a mesh rig thats working nicely on the ERA. That particular build was a 1.8 ohm coil.

Inside the wick is a piece of 28guage Kanthal that I used for shaping as I oxidized. The coil end is doubled over so you can get more length on the wire.

I haven't made the SS wick yet but it certainly might save some time. My boiled cotton twine is giving good flavor but I have to rewick more than once a day, dryburning coil between wicks, because they get so gunked up from my juice. Easy enough using silica wick but still need to take RBA off to soak in PGA first. Works better that way with my juice.

I haven't tried hemp or bamboo yet but I suspect they will gum up up just as fast.

My same juice has been gunking up all attys for 2 years. Boiling has been best method, for me; PGA not quite as good. Always dryburning after because coils and any steel mesh in atty gets gunked too.

Thanks for pic of SS wick.

Yay! I finally got to taking pictures of what works for me. This is on example of A7. Reomizer coil works the same, except the coil goes on the side of both posts rather than in between.

Apologies about occasional lack of focus. Phone doesn't do close-ups very well

Wow, that's a lot of wraps! What's your resistance on that bad boy? It sure looks pretty though. My darn A7 melted a spring and a switch today. :( Good thing I bought a refresh kit. Now I have a brand spanking new Grand, lol!

Resistance is 1.8-1.9 or so. Wire is 30ga kanthal. I did like fewer wraps with 32ga, but I foolishly bought a big spool of the 30 and ran out of 32 :) Could do fewer wraps with thicker wick, but I like this size of the wick and how easily it heats up.

I have read this thread start to finish many times. The purpose of doing so was to figure out what wire to buy for the ohms I wanted. I looked for 4 things: wire gauge, thickness of wick, wraps/coils, and ohms. I was just trying to remember it all and just about to write it down. Decided that this might make it easier for myself and others.

Here are the posts that have been made that contain the 4 things I needed to know.
Hope it helps someone!

Thank you to all that have contributed!

Hi Rob,
In your grand set up ( 28 gauge & 5 wraps) when you say it will "rip your lungs out" what does it come out to be? 1.4-1.6 ohms? I just ordered my REOmizer with 30gauge wire so I'm thinking 4/5 wraps should be about right as I am currently using 306 Cisco 1.5 lr atty. Looking for just a bit more warmth and flavor. Am I on the right track?

Happy New Year!

I use about 7 raps when using the 28 gauge just under 1 ohm .
For the 30 I would shoot for 7 or 8 raps . This will very a little depending on how tight or lose your coils are . You should really pick up a ohm meter it really helps teach you how many raps you need with each wire gauge
