I’m gonna look into some options for him like Mabye a groomer would be willing to let me muzzle him and stay with him while he gets groomed. Because a 400 dollar hair cut is a bit much.

Then when I heard at least 300 for my rabbit to be fixed I was just heartbroken. But you guys have really lifted my spirts.
Any groomer worth their weight would be happy to have you stay AND hold him while they groom. My wife was a groomer and owned the grooming business. She shared the building with a vet. They would ask the owners of nasty dogs/cats/misc to stay and hold them. That or pay way more to have the vet sedate them for grooming. A good number had to be sedated due to their owners not providing even the most basic of training or socialization.

Very simple answer ... the majority of people are not competent enough. Most non-pro grooming jobs end up looking like sh*t. My wife was a professional groomer and had her own business with several groomers. She was booked out for over 1/2 a year. It's amazing how many stupid people came in with very matted cats/dogs. Simple brushing would have saved them a couple hundred, easily. But people are lazy. Or they would come in with nails that should have been cut a long time ago. Gotta have their pets though.
We had 3 Poms I sheared often..it kept them cooler & cleaner...not too mention shedding! First few lion cuts were kind of funny looking.. But as time went on my skills& their patience improved.

I have tried to groom him before with some pet grooming kit and failed miserably. He was fighting the whole time and they wouldn’t even go through his Matted hair properly. I could go try to find some good ones and dope him up a bit I guess. I don’t want anything fancy just shaved right down to where you see skin all over. I would have a hard time doing the face as well and would probably have a dog shaved down with a hairy matted face afterwards.

It’s just my mom has been guilt tripping me and making me feel like a cheap jerk who wants to kill My dog when I mention giving him something and either trying to cut him myself or taking him for a shear.

It really makes me mad because I’m the one paying for it and she just says nope no one is giving my dog drugs without medical supervision ! He deserves better! All of a sudden he’s her dog but I’m the one who pays for his food and walks him plus pays for any vet bills. So it’s easy for her to say that.

She’s the queen of guilt trips. I finally had to put my foot down today and say this is ridiculous I can’t do 400 each hair cut. I didn’t say I’m the one paying for it because then she would go off about how she looked after two kids as a single parent for years and if she had a job she would pay the 400 in a heartbeat.
She's the one who bloody gave birth to you, for crying out loud. What, did she expect kids to be free of charge?

I work for a groomer now. Its amazing what comes through the doors. I got bit last week giving a dog a bath! This dog was old enough that it should have been bathed before but he acted like it was his first bath. And I know those monster claws were never trimmed before. By the time we were done my boss and I needed tranquilizers!
Dope the dog up with benadryl. 25mg per 25lb of body weight. Then cut the matted part off with scissors. Don't try using an electric razor on matted fur. Their skin gets caught up with the matts and sometimes you have to be very careful cutting it off. Good luck!

I've been taking my Luna to work with me for a couple months now. I turn it off and put it in a hard-shell zip-up glasses case with some paper towels to keep it from rattling around, catch drips, etc.

Today I was riding to work and I felt a burning in my pocket where my glasses case was. My first thought was "Oh crap, my mod shorted out, or I forgot to turn it off!" (never had this happen before, I'm very careful about that.). My other pocket started getting warm, then my legs, and I realized it was just my legs losing feeling from the cold. Had a good laugh because of that this morning. :p

My dog has been to many groomers, because I have travelled a bit in the last few years and I take her with me. She goes about every eight week because she is like a wooly mammoth. There has never been a groomer that has not said "this is the nicest dog EVER, she will let you do anything you want and all she wants to do is kiss you"

Just about finished the rabbit house. Just gotta put the hay and cage in there. Next weekend I will make a platform with a ramp going up that goes above their cage. Also picked up a better tunnel that they can go through I think it’s meant for a cat but it’s pretty sweet. I’ll tske another photo when I get the door on.

The bunnies have been watching me build it all excited.

I offered to stay but the groomer said no I’d get in the way. But then she said she will have to pay someone to hold him so it may be more expensive . You think that sounds weird? I mean it will be a long time but I don’t mind. Plus he only trusts me really.

My mom says that’s not right she probably hurts them or duct tape their feet to the table so she doesn’t want you to see. I just laughed it off at first but when you said that it made me think Mabye moms right.
