ive made one post here but have been reading these forums for a year and a half or so.
I dont like discourse but i have to say Anna, wow, you seem to pop up in so many discussions with a holier than thou, narky attitude.
Its not so much your opinion, thats fine, and usually spot on & informative.
its the extra personal stuff you always seem add with it. Its not needed or called for in many instances.
I realise it takes two to tango, & i dont know all the feuds going on here but its just you seem to pop up more than most.
Krikey, chill out & try to be not so judgemental & or personal with comments you dont agree with.
The rule of thumb on ECF is attack the post, not the poster. Debate is healthy, personal attacks are uncalled for.

narky, snarky, whatever, i think you know what it means.
and if thats taking the high road, id hate to see you off the leash & chopping in?
You say i'll take the high road & then straight away you try make as hurtful comments as you can.
So what if i didnt actually sign up for some time? that makes me bad or a lurking weirdo or something does it?
Look, i really didnt mean to offend you anna. As i said, i find most of your posts informative and agree 99% of the time when your on topic. I didnt say you suck at all. Why try and inflate this?
I only pointed out the excessive amounts of posts ive read where at some point its descended into silly arguments basically over nothing. Not always at your instigation, many times your defending yourself or responding to crap. And as i said, i dont know all thats gone on between others but you certainly dont mind a good verbal joust. As a prominent & respected ECF member i kind of expected a little better, thats all.
I can only call it as i see it.
This was a classic example.
The dude barkuti made a comment, not attacking, insulting or aimed at anyone.
OK you didnt like it but in my opinion you were needlessly harsh and borderline insulted him. For what? Others had already basically said what you did but without the niggle.
You told him it was BS & how your kid was so much better & could out shop him and most here etc.
& who said anyone has to please everyone?
I was taught manners cost nothing.
You dont have to argue or insult to make your point.
You could've so easily disagreed with his comment in a much less aggressive manner & without the slapdown
But hey, if thats how you like to travel, power to you.
Im not quite sure where the integrity is in that but whatever.
Anyhow, i apologized for being snarky back and i wish i hadnt bothered commenting at all now.
I really dont want to start a feud between us.
Once ive made more comments on this forum i'll be happy to cop some constructive criticism if you feel i deserve it?
If i bother again. I cant stand forums where small groups stick together and tag team anyone who disagrees with one of "the group".
I'd just like people to try and be a little less confrontational & more kinder to one another.
Couldnt we all just try a little harder to have less drama?
peace sister

No. No you did not! Yet here I am shooting my mouth off anyway :D Totally unrepentant too. That’s the thing with public speech. All Internet forums are public speech.

I don’t worry about how I come off. I see no reason for you to worry either. You’re fine. There are mods. If it gets bad they will shut you up. They do it for me.
lol, i get the forum insider group thing where a few long time regulars stick together and tag team others.
Gotta have ya homies back.
No drama.

It’s not something I think I see much of here. I don’t see myself as much of an insider. More of a general irritant. It could happen I suppose. It’s a human behavior and we’re all humans. I try to make a point of liking what I enjoy and questioning what I don’t regardless of origin. There may be some pack mentality going around. It is a human thing after all. Worth watching out for. I recall a site from long ago called “flame warriors” that described the types of personalities on forums and the styles of argument people use to do this.
Hey! It’s still around! Flame Warriors Home
It talked about Internet forums which this is. An older commentary for an older style of media. I should probably read it again and see where I fit.
I do have more in common background and general approach wise with some people than with others and am perhaps more likely to treat them with more care than others. Perhaps it is done to me as well. A fair reminder. I doubt it’s something it’s possible to get away from entirely simply because it’s something people are drawn to do.

i really was joking bomba. I havent been here long enough to know if that is happening here.
and i agree with everything you just said.
It might happen to a small degree but nothing over the top, and as you said its just human nature to look out for those that are considered friends or reasonably close.
I respect you and really appreciate your wisdom and the help you provide to others when it comes to vaping and many issues in general. :)

A fair point and a thing worth stating imho. It’s not always super easy to follow but worth keeping in mind.

To use commentary on this post as a jumping off point to a somewhat tertiary point, and with apologies to you, I’m Noticing a couple likes and one disagree. I don’t think the disagree was pointed at you but at the feeling of the disagreer that this rule is not always followed. It’s arguably fair in his case I think. I do recall pointing out the nature of his avatar more than once so I would perhaps qualify as an imperfect follower of that rule. The question is I guess does an avatar pic constitute part of a commentary or is it personal? I thought at the time that the nature of the pic was because of its heavily political nature combined with the nature of the particular post. Situational perhaps. It seemed to qualify to me as a statement of approach in that particular instance.

ah. I suck at jokes. I’m kinda aspy and such stuff can go over my head.
I havent been here long enough to know if that is happening here.
thought you said you lurked for a year. I’m confused.

human nature isn’t flawless. It’s what we’re stuck with though.
I respect you and really appreciate your wisdom and the help you provide to others when it comes to vaping and many issues in general. :)
That last bit creeps me out a little. Reverse of a personal attack perhaps? I don’t consider myself to be someone worth flattering. There seems to be some sort of implication that I make fewer mistakes than the average person which I do not personally find to be true.
Also doesn’t jibe with the statement about new member.

no its not like ive been hanging around here everyday or even regularly for a year and a half.
Whenever i google a vape related issue i inevitably end up finding myself here.
No more than 30 maybe 40 or so times have i been on this site.
As the missus and i have been getting into the vaping a lot more recently ive come here more often than i normally did.
Im not sure about others but i have to be a regular and get to know the mods, gurus and regulars etc to really know the ins and outs or group dynamics of a forum.
Sorry if thanking you for the advice you give newbs and other vapers creeps you out.
I didnt imply anything about you making fewer mistakes than average peeps here.
It was based purely on the fact you are a site guru and veteran etc. and the times i have come here ive seen your comments and liked/agreed with much of them.
& from what i can recall, the comments ive seen of yours have been polite and respectful.
I have no hidden or other ulterior motives for making the comment.
I didnt say you are never wrong or i never disagree with any of your comments.
I think i just did a couple of hours ago lol.
Gee fairdinkum, as a newbie here im just trying to show the respect i think another experienced member deserves.
Dont denigrate or under estimate the advice and help you give to people mate. Its actually a good thing and im happy to compliment when its deserved.
Would you prefer i insult you? lol
Anna to be fair also has helped inform many people and without starting it up again, i just wish she was a little less combative sometimes, that was my point earlier. Probably not made any where near as well as it couldve been.
I dont know, maybe im just an old hippie. Maybe its the differences in our countries or something.
We are pretty laid back here in oz
I know new york can be a pretty confronting place lol. People yell, swear and honk etc at each other for nothing

In this particular thread, I do not view @stols001 (Anna) posts as being combative – she has given an opinion on a particular retailer (which I agree) and used her own personal details to express that opinion. That is her character, her style of expression and what makes her an individual to which I very much appreciate. It is her choice to share personal details, and she is free to do so providing she complies to the forum rules - and I do not see her breaking said rules.

oh god, good for you mate.
We must have a different interpretation of whats combative and frankly just rude here in australia.
Calling someones comment BS, claptrap, telling them they basically know nothing, to can it, woo hoo good for you, caps and all, isnt exactly polite where i come from. She was clearly being overly antagonistic in those posts.
And i couldnt see why ok!
But whatever.
Do north americans really speak to each other like this and its considered just normal?

ah. Comes from defining guru. All “guru” means here is that I made a lot of posts. It’s literally just numbers not quality. I’m just bored and loud.
and veteran etc.
veteran is how long a person has been a member. I posted a few times and forgot I joined and did other things for years. Then I came back and poof I was a veteran. It’s a little more accurate. I did vape all through that time.
and the times i have come here ive seen your comments and liked/agreed with much of them.
& from what i can recall, the comments ive seen of yours have been polite and respectful.
I like polite. It’s one of the reasons I like this forum. It’s something of a polite island in a sea of internet horror. I am perhaps less polite than many. It’s a failing. There are those who would disagree with your assessment. I’ve been impolite here. My opening statement to you for example was deliberately less polite than it perhaps could have been.
I have no hidden or other ulterior motives for making the comment.
I didnt say you are never wrong or i never disagree with any of your comments.

Gee fairdinkum, as a newbie here im just trying to show the respect i think another experienced member deserves.
whereas I think they (we? merely I perhaps?) deserve less respect than you think. Fair enough.
Dont denigrate or under estimate the advice and help you give to people mate. Its actually a good thing and im happy to compliment when its deserved.
Would you prefer i insult you? lol
not especially. I don’t react to that well either. Another failing.
Anna to be fair also has helped inform many people and without starting it up again, i just wish she was a little less combative sometimes, that was my point earlier.
ah! It came across to me a bit differently. I got the impression you disliked her anecdotes about family and whatnot. I feel they add life and humanity myself regardless of content. I don’t always agree with her stances, just as she doesn’t always agree with mine. I like the way she writes though.
Probably not made any where near as well as it couldve been.
I dont know, maybe im just an old hippie.
lot of those here. It’s not like there are any young hippies any more. The young invent their own things. They may have similarities but they are not the same.
Maybe its the differences in our countries or something.
We are pretty laid back here in oz

Don’t make this about regional characteristics – that is just going to invite unhealthy debate. No single individual can please the masses, regardless of where they are from. Anna has her own individual ways of expressing herself, you don’t like, then don’t read. She is not breaking the forum rules, and if she was, use the report button and let the moderators deal with the situation instead of throwing fuel on the fire.

thanks anna.
Duel ozzie hey?
Im a cockroach or sydney sider to.
Im sure we would have plenty in common.
Thanks about the vaping.
It was actually a health scare that gave me the impetus to quit the poo sticks.
I had a lump on my lung the size of an orange. I lost half my body weight in 3 months & started coughing up copious amounts of blood. I mean handfuls
I was pooping myself mate & thought i was a gonner with lung cancer.
In the end, would you believe this, it turned out to be a huge abscess. I had the biggest meanest tooth abscess and it went to my lung. The specialist couldnt believe it and said it was old world stuff)
A few rounds of anti biotics and it was gone.
I'd stopped smoking thru pure fear but there was no way i was starting again.
I got into vaping because i love my herb and bought an arizer extreme Q.
Its my missus im really worried about and why i got us into vaping liquids.
She was smoking a pack of rollies every 2 days, coughing so bad every morning and was going to end up with emphysema or worse.
We have her down to 2 or 3 cigs a day and after many false starts, albeit without the vaping and just relying on patches and gum etc, im really hopeful she is going to succeed this time.
Anyhow thanks again for having no hard feelings and agreeing to a fresh start.
cheers mate.
My name is Bede.
(lol, I know, its uncommon. Its after my grandfather whose parents were religious and named him after saint bede, savior of the hopeless i believe he was lol.)

I find passive-aggressive behaviour very worrying. I love Anna and her posts, we all have needs and stresses , so I'm glad it got resolved!
