Short Notice But Really Need Expert Advice On My Choices Please.

Hi All

I gave up smoking in December and was pointed in the direction of look alike analogues from my local supermarket. When they decided to no longer stock them, I googled for the best brand and a whole new world opened up when I found vaping and these amazing communities. I've been reading for days to try and figure out what I need.

I decided to get a Provari Mini 2.5v for home use with a tank for my all day vape and some cartomisers to use on their own, too, for different flavours and the Ego C Twist for going out, with cartomisers for an attractive streamlined look and a lovely drip tip.

Both being VV, I think I'm right in choosing SR Cartomisers and quite like the idea of 70/30 PG/VG.

However, then I found the Titanide Themis; I like the 14 model and much prefer the design to the Provari. IMO, it's very elegant and sophisticated and I love the Titanium/Gold version. I've fallen in love with it ..... a typical Leo woman, if it's pretty, shiny, with gold, I want it! It's beautifully made and should last for years ...... the only problem is, it's not VV. I believe I'd need to use LR Cartomizers with it if I want a streamlined look when out and I'd buy its own tank for at home.

From what I've read, vaping is going to move swiftly forward this year so there will be a great many new products being offered.

My questions are, although I've never used a VV model so, what you've never had, you never miss:

1) What do you think of the Titanide?
2) Do you think it would be a bad decision and I'd ultimately regret buying it over the Provari Mini?
3) Should I save my money for an expensive yummy product and wait to see what comes out this year and maybe just go with the Ego C Twist for now ~ although that will probably cost more in the long run because of having to replace the expensive batteries fairly regularly?

Due to illness, the site I want to purchase from is only open today and I'm just about out of refills for the look alike analogue, so I'd like to order this morning, in the hope that they can despatch today. I'm sorry it's short notice but if anyone has time to give me their expert advice, I'd be sooooo very grateful.

Many thanks!

Nicki

The Titanide Themis is beautiful for sure and looks very well built. But it's a fully mechanical mod, and I think you'd be better off with the Provari for your first mod. Better battery life and a more consistent vape. Mech mods demands more from the user and might not be the best to start with. A Titanide tank would look quite awesome on the Provari.. :)

Hi, Nicki, and welcome to ECF!

We vapers are a crazy lot. When I started, I purchased practically every device that came out in searchof the "perfect vape." It took me a while, but I realized that vaping nirvana is elusive and expensive.

The Themis is a fine device; however, it is mechanical and expensive. The Provari Mini is very nice looking, well made, and offers much more versatility with it being VV and it ranks as one of the better devices out there. The eGo Twist is cheap and works well as a VV device. The thing to keep in mind is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good vape.

I humbly suggest you consider perhaps a Vamo, Z-Max, Tesla. These afford not only VV but also VW (something the Provari doesn't) and are even less expensive than the Provari and a step up from the eGo Twist.

Good luck, take your time with this and, after buying your first mod, I know it will be just the beginning for you. Enjoy the ride!

For your first mod I suggest a Vamo (easier to use 3 button menu system, ohms resistance display, vv and vw also). Or if you want something simple and well built an Itaste MVP (just vv, no vw).

Provari's ARE built the best but a one button menu system (like a Provari, vmax or zmax) can be intimidating to someone fairly new to vaping.

I have the Tesla and love it. It is a BIG unit though, if that is a consideration.

I'm also using a Bolt combo. One Bolt, Two extension rings, a Kick and you are good to go. The kick is an add-on variable wattage device. With that set up you can 1) kick an 18350 battery for a small(ish) vape, 2) kick an 18500 for a longer vape and 3) kick an 18650 for a day/day and a half vape (it is very long). Litecigusa is having a sale on the bolts, vaporalley has a good deal on the kick. Drawbacks: 1) you need a 510 to ego adapter to use ego cartos and clearos. Madvapes carries a chrome bolt switch that looks like it might take ego clearos 2) no way to turn it off except removing the battery, so not pocketable.

The advantage of the Kick is that once you know your sweet spot for vape power you set the unit and can then use any atty or carto with out fuss and get your perfect vape.

The titanade is awesome and on my *I WANTS IT* list.

I find the one button menu much easier to use. I like keeping it simple.

The Twist and Spinner type batteries are a great device to use on the go, no they don't last forever. But if lose one while out and about you aren't out a ton of money. Provari is a well built device, should serve you well for a long time. The Titanide is nice looking, but it might be a step too far if you are just switching from the small cig lookalikes, you would need to add a kick if you wanted to use VW with it. For that price you could probably get two Provari minis.

LOL it seems like so many people try and pitch people to buy VAMO's especially when they are looking at really nice/expensive mods.. I mean if she is looking at a provari, a VAMO is a big step down from it.. and the thing is ridiculously big and not very pretty to look at.

the zmax/provari etc are not hard to use.. in fact its a lot easier than I thought.. especially when you have things called 'google' and ECF.

Don't like my Segelei Zmax V3 one button menu system at all. Takes awhile to find out ohms resistance, battery charge and lotsa button presses.....Good way to wear out a button.

3 button system? Hold button to right down 4-5 seconds= ohms, hold button to left 4-5 sec= battery strength
both buttons 10 sec? vv or vw

easier for me....and less likely a button wears out to boot

The Titanide Themis is beautiful. I considered buying one but passed because of the gold plating. My gear is for using rather than displaying and it's been my experience that gold plating looks like something destined for a garage sale even after a moderate amount of careful handling.

I bought a Curve because I preferred the brass to the the gold plating of the Themis and could not be more pleased with it. I'm a diehard VW user so I've used it with both a Kick and the matching Can. The Curve/Can would be easy enough for a beginner to use but the combo is awfully big at 6 3/4" long—strictly a stay at home device and I think something with a screen would better for someone just starting out.

All that said, I would suggest buying a VAMO. Like the Provari, but not the Curve nor the Themis, it has a screen so you can see how much power is being used, how much battery power you have left and what the ohms are of the device you are using.

The VAMO will also work in both VW and VV modes. That way you can tell if you want to spend the money for a Provari that does not have VW. Some people don't miss the convenience of VW and some, like me, do. If you decide you want the VV Provari or something else with VW you still have a great backup device.

You can buy the VAMO cheaper elsewhere but I bought my first one at Vapor Beast and have none of the issues that I've seen posted that seem as if factory seconds have found their way into the market. Also, if something turns out to be amiss, Tim at Vapor Beast will make it right lickety-split. He also offers telephone support.

You can wrap your VAMO to give it a feminine touch and peruse dragonbone's wonderful Show us your girly, pretty, decorated, pink! thread for ideas for more bling.

This habit gets expensive buying upgrades. If you spend the money the first time on the best then it wouldn't be that way. I just bought a Segeili Zmax and a GLV2 this week. The Zmax is VV/VW, well built and it's something you can play with settings on but very large. The GLV2 is a 5 volt mod and will last a lifetime, this thing is bullet proof and hand built by Jay in Farmington Michigan and carries his lifetime warranty. Also The GLVs come in custom colors if you don't mind waiting for the build.

Thanks so much for your reply and the links you've given me, it's really interesting to see what's out there. Your device is gorgeous and the beautiful sagewood tip sets it off so well ~ I'm getting a thing for creative drip tips. You're right, of course, about the gold plating on the Titanide, I was just very drawn to the shape and finish, plus the fact that titanium is such a good material. I've had a good look but I don't think the Curve is sold in the U.K. I do want something attractive to look at and enjoy but the bottom line has to be performance and scope and on that basis, with my sensible head on, the Provari, which is also very attractive, has to win over the Titanide and I'll look at one of the others for a back-up. Many thanks again for your help!

Hi Guys, :)

Thank you all very much for taking the time to give me your opinions, they're a big help and I've spent quite a time doing more research on the different mods you've kindly suggested. Researching my new favourite hobby is so interesting, but incredibly time consuming, as I keep going off at a tangent, looking at and learning all about the different accessories.

I think some of the mods may be a bit big for me as an all day vape and the Provari Mini seems to be very much the consensus. I want to try and avoid building a collection of different mods that will end up gathering dust as I can't afford it and knowing me, I'd probably end up with the Provari ultimately, so I think I may as well go for it first as last and know that I should be guaranteed good vaping .... once I've got the hang of it. The reviews and blogs all seem to be very favourable and I've watched lots of YouTube vids; it seems fairly straightforward and I quite like a challenge. If I get stuck, the info I need will likely be on the web or, failing that, I'll beg advice from you very kind, experienced peeps. I understand that different juices need different settings in order to find the sweet spot, so I guess the Provari will give me that scope and I'll enjoy the experience. I may look at a backup, probably the Vamo mini version with the smaller battery or maybe some twists for small handbags.

Thanks again everyone, for your valuable advice and kindness and for stopping me from making a costly mistake, much appreciated!!! Although I'm still quietly hankering after the Titanide (maybe one day when I'm up to speed). :p
