Try this for a recovery:

"oh, the original BBs came with a longer bottom and a spacer for 14500 batteries. Then they made the bottom shorter so you could only use 14500 batteries. Now I just found out that the new longer BB bottoms are just as long as the originals but come with a longer spring in them so they can take either battery without the spacer."

everybody will believe that one :)

:oops:Like what?I wanna know?

I think the OP and Quick are talking about the special edition BB....That hasn't been released to the Public yet......You know the one I'm talking about keyzygirl.
It's the Black one that comes with the Special Spring that you can only buy at the Chinese Store Next to The Chinese Restaurant in China Town next to the Mailbox across the street from the Bus Stop and next to the Park...That's the One that the OP and Quick are referring to.... I think...... So please don't quote me on that....

Thanks Quick

ETA: Pulled on the spring harder and it seems to be long enough now.
Have you only used a 14500 in that BB? If you use an unprotected battery in the device and there is a short(bad adapter), it could cause the spring to colapse from the high current passing through it.
One other question, what color is the spring?

The spring is copper/red. I've only used the AW 14500 750mah and the Trustfire 14500 900mah with Drews 510 1.5ohm LR. The spring was too short when I first got it last week, even after stretching. I can get it to fire by pulling on it hard, but only for an hour or so. It fires great with the spacers.

Is that one of the flat top bateries?

No. Both are button top and they measure is 500mm.

AW 14500 Protected Rechargeable Lithium Battery

DealExtreme: $5.43 TrustFire Protected 14500 3.7V 900mAh Rechargeable Lithium Batteries (2-Pack)

ETA: I think it's fixed. It looks like the coil on the top of the spring was too large and not making good contact with the plate on the bottom of the battery (except when I added the spacers). I turned it further with needle nose pliers and it seams to be making good contact now. The spring is 200mm long, which is more than enough length. Thanks

ETA2: The battery measurement is 50mm and the spring is 20mm
