I love the legacy no doubt. I haven't tried it without the spring and I'm not sure I ever will. I haven't been able to obtain a kick yet so still waiting on that to be back in stock. Sailorman is so enthusiastic about the SB but I can't imagine anything being built better than the Legacy. Then again I only own the Legacy and a few eGo batteries so I speak from limited experirence.

Even if a standard is exceeded, it remains the standard.

The problem inherent to that statement is that you've already posted this one:

The Silver Bullet is the Rolls Royce of fixed voltage PVs.

Rolls Royce is, of course, a universal euphemism for the apex, above which there's only rarefied air, if anything.

So which is it?

If someone has something like a smaller brethern BB, mechanical mod, for less than $90 I'm all ears. Sailorman's many posts about this tough, fixed voltage device were good enough to get me looking all over the net for confimation. Everything I've found thus far that might be as good costs WAY more. I'm not opposed to fixed voltage, less tinkering around with dials and buttons as far as I can see. I can tinker with VV apart from the BB if I feel the need, or get tired of NOT spending cash.

All in all, this is a fun hobby and it focuses people in a different direction than analogs. Buying a BB will be a part of that hobby therefore it's goodness is supreme. :glare:

SB does have the smoothest threads I think I've ever felt on a pv. Goes on buttery smooth. Unfortunately for me, I only owned mine for 3 days before I accidentally left it on the bumper of my truck at the gas station, and then drove off. :face palm: The switch also had the best spring which gave it the perfect resistance when depressing. Something you just need to experience (no accidental discharges). Although I ordered a Reo Grand to replace it (which should be here tomorrow), I will definitely order another SB if the Reo is not all I'm thinking it will be.

I'm so indecisive... I received my second SB yesterday, a green one, but the color is much lighter than the image on Altsmokes shows. I just wasn't feeling it, so it's on it's way back to Altsmoke :( Problem is, I can't decide if I should get different color. Thinking maybe white, or the non chrome black if it is every in stock again. But have also been debating just paying the difference and getting the Omega to have as a mechanical backup. Choices choices, too many choices :) What a horrible situation to be in ;)

Well, the Omega is certainly a well built device. I thought about it for a long time, but I still can't figure out how the switch works especially if I have a tank / larger attachment on top. And I, for one, am not a fan of the mirror finish and I don't like "silver vein" but that's just me.

The deal breaker for me was that is wasn't really Kick friendly. Again, opinions may vary, but there is something to be said about regulated vaping and since my sweet spot is around 7.5 W the Kick gives me what I need without any problem.

Not to seem like I try to push my own choice, but hey - I made that choice so I must feel there is some merit to it: take another look at the Legacy. I have been using it for close to two weeks now and I can't say anything bad about it. I use it with the extension tube for an IMR 18650 with a Kick which means protected, regulated vaping with a safer chemistry battery. The switch is interesting in that it does not use a hot spring as the spring is not part of the electrical circuit. It looks made to last and it's terribly easy to take apart and clean.

Elfstone, if and when I do get a kick for it, I've got a few questions for you.

1. I got the standard Tenergy 18650s with it. I think I read on the site that this won't work with the kick even if the extension is purchased. Is that right?

2. Will my Tenergy charger be able to charge the batteries it does require? This may sound like a stupid question, but I just haven't owned many devices.

3. How difficult is it to remove/replace the battery with the kick in there? It looks to me like a fragile sort of chip (the kick does).

4. I'm a bit of a flavor changer. Maybe 4-5 flavors throughout the day. Since apparently different juices taste different at different wattages, how often would I need to reset the kick?

You should not use a Kick with ICR batteries, only with IMR. It's a matter of safety / ability of the battery to supply the required current, not of size or of whether it works or not. I can only recommend AW and Panasonic, really.

2. Will my Tenergy charger be able to charge the batteries it does require? This may sound like a stupid question, but I just haven't owned many devices.

I don't know, but I think so. Look on the back of the charger - if it says Output 4.2 V and ~500 mA it's a go. It also has to have an auto-shutoff at target voltage which all Li-Ion chargers have.

3. How difficult is it to remove/replace the battery with the kick in there? It looks to me like a fragile sort of chip (the kick does).

This is a non-issue with the Legacy. Again, for IMR batteries you will most likely need 2-3 of the washers that come with it. IMRs are a bit shorter than protected ICRs. Take a look at the Basilray video to see how to put the washers in the switch. If you want to use the 18650 with a Kick you also need the extension tube. If you don't have / don't want the extension tube you'll need to use 18490 with the Kick. Now, you put the Kick at the top end - unscrew the top cap, the one with the atomizer connection and stick the Kick in there carefully not to let the tiny spring catch in the threads. Then you will change your battery through the bottom cap from then on, and the Kick will always stay in place. If you want to adjust the Kick - take off the top cap and turn the Kick adjustment screw. It's as if it were built in, really.

4. I'm a bit of a flavor changer. Maybe 4-5 flavors throughout the day. Since apparently different juices taste different at different wattages, how often would I need to reset the kick?

Depends. I now vape only DIY and in fact my all-day vapes are good at the same wattage for me so I don't adjust it all that often. Again, it's really easy, because you don't have to remove the battery to do so. The biggest power changes I need are usually between sweet/bakery and fruity as well as between "tobaccos" (which I no longer vape) and non-tobaccos. Also I tend to lower the power if the menthol is strong in a juice to avoid the extra-throat hit.
