Ok so i'm almost 10 months into vaping.

Been using 2 510 Rivas for the majority of that time, and have been very satisfied for the most part, but feel like im not getting the best vaping experience available because i dont have some type of mod.

So i am considering Silver Bullet simply because i've heard many good things about it, and the price isnt too high and its actually in stock as opposed to things like darwn, provari and reo being OUT OF STOCK.

my question is it worth it? is there something else i'd be better off with?

I heard a nasty story about a mod blowing up in someones face and that has kinda scared the .... out of me, i even get a little nervous holding the riva to my face since then.

I heard it was because of the unprotected batteries, but im still a little hesitant even with protected batteries.

so im really tempted to get a silver bullet, 18650 and charger and a gooseneck, but being that no one place has all of those things, i havent put in any order.

Just really tempted to get one and looking for some insight from experienced users.

I also dont like the size of it, im wondering if somewhere in the NEAR future, some new, smaller, more affordable mod will come out, maybe i should just wait for that.

I guess im just looking to step up to a mod, and not sure which one to get, any input is appreciated.

The Silver Bullet may be the most popular (and well-regarded) mod of all time. It is unlikely that you would regret purchasing it.

However, it is one of the oldest mods still on the scene and, therefore, does not include some of the features you would find in more recent model. Three which stand out in my mind are: no venting ... size (IMO it is larger than an 18650 battery requires) ... and it is not VV. [BTW, AltSmoke does not recommend stacking batteries to get 6V in the Silver Bullet ... and, because of the venting issue, neither do I.] On the other hand, it is reasonably priced at $85 (not including batts and charger) for a very attractive-looking and high-quality product.

As with everything else in vaping, it really depends on what your priorities are at this point in time. In this regard, I suggest that you peruse the Mods Buyers Guide that I put together a year ago. The example models mentioned, of course, do not include any of the newer ones released in the intervening year. I believe that its value is the seven parameters provided to guide you through your personal priority-setting process ... and it does include a link to ViZi's incomparable mods database (which is kept fairly well up to date).

For example:
  • How much mAh do you really want and need ... and what size? If you want as much mAh as possible – regardless of size – consider the 4000 mAh Helix (whenever it is in stock). If you would like it to be as small as possible and 900-1050 mAh is enough (as it would be for most vapers for all-day vaping), consider a mod based on the 14500 or 14650 battery (or other smaller batteries). One of the least expensive (in a tubular shape) is the 14650 e-Power (e.g., $46 full kit from SmokTek or $25 bare bones "NoEgo" from Jazz CartoPipe). [The complete kit "e-Power" would be the more convenient purchase for someone new to mods. I prefer the NoEgo because of its appearance ... and you can get the batts and charger from a supplier like MadVapes.]

  • If you think you would like variable voltage, would you prefer simplicity (and lower cost) or digital readouts? The ProVari, Darwin, and EQ are examples of complex mods, which you can set precisely. [Also, I believe that the EQ cooks breakfast ... and, at $300, it should.:D] The $100 Infinity Pro and $129 Buzz Pro are examples of KISS VV mods, which are adjustable by feel ... and are less expensive. [They will not cook your breakfast.]
  • And does that VV mod have to be tubular in shape? The plastic box mods are considerably less expensive, e.g., CyberWolf recently posted a very positive review of the $55 Smokbox VariCool Mod. Other examples of modestly priced VV plastic box mods are MadVapes' Variable Voltage Box Mod ... and the Little Sister and Big Brother from Ken's Box Mods.

  • Do you want a juice feeder? Box-shaped OK? [Wood, metal, or plastic?] Or would you prefer a tubular mod with a tank on top?
And that just scratches the surface of the factors to consider and of the many truly fine mods that are available today.

Enjoy the adventure!

Don gave you the lowdown on the Silver Bullet as well as some other options. I would agree that it's a large PV for an 18650 unit, but it's about the sturdiest mod you'll find. I have big hands so it's not a problem for me. The Omega is also an 18650 unit, and it's both slimmer and shorter as well as being an all mechanical mod. If size is a concern but you like the design of the SB, consider a BB. It uses a 900mah 14500 so it'll be comparable to your Riva in battery life. Of course there are a lot of other mods on the market so I'd suggest you do some more research if you're not sure what features you need yet. Keep an eye out for any vape meets in your area and you may be able to check out a bunch of gear before you spend any money.
