If you want a robust, practically invincible variable voltage mod, the smart choice would be to get a tesla. It isn't a mech, though neither is a provari, so it could fail eventually anyway. A tesla is less than one third the price of a provari, that's a valid reason for getting a tesla. The tesla is built from one piece of aluminium, or aloominoom if you're from the usa (hehe), and the body is about 3 or 4 millimetres thick. There isn't a more solid mod in the world.

The one thing the "provari" can boast is the circuit board is military grade. Apart from that your getting swindled. The provari isn't worth more than a tesla. If you really want to spend that much money then get 3 tesla's.

Can a variable voltage mod really be worth what provape charge ?. No, because variable voltage, with all the wiring and circuitry will eventually fail.

Let me ask you this, Why is a tesla only £50 ?, it's because it's an honest price that's why. On reflection the price of a provari is not honest at all. Provape are pissing on you and calling it rain !. So owners of a provari will say it's worth the money, i say "so is the tesla, and using a provari owners logic the tesla is worth 3 times what you'll pay for it", If what people say about the provari are right then logically you should get a tesla, the only difference is you'll save 60% of what you would have spent mugging yourself off buying a provari.

Just to clarify. The provari is a robust variable voltage mod. The same can be said for the tesla. The tesla is a 3rd of the price of a provari. So what would you buy ?.

I also went from cigalikes to a Provari... while the built in multimeter and vv settings were nice to haves, it wasn't worth it in my opinion... I found that I preferred lower resistance than the Provari could handle so moved over to Mechs and never looked back.

I'll say this, if you never plan to build your own coils and are happy with cartos and prebuilt tanks in the resistance ranges commonly offered Provari is a nice choice for well built system, but if you think there's a chance you'll get into RBA's then I'd pick up an ego until you make the transition into mechanicals.

I'm sure that Tesla is a great mod, but I wouldn't feel comfortable carrying it with me in public... :D

as a person that is not too fond of VV, get a Provari...
I own one, and still use it from time to time...

I have friends that have gone through 3-4 VV devices in the time that i've owned my Provari.
Sure, its not as pristine as it used to be... but it still works without skipping a beat.

I'm just on a power trip with my mech mod... but i know I can always just pick up the Provari and keep vaping.

Yes, the price tag is hefty, but it is built like a tank. By far the toughest of all my mods. I have cheaper mods that perform similarly, but are not as tough. With the possible exception of my iTaste 134, but still too early to tell. I also have the Tesla, it's a lot cheaper and a great working mod. I've dropped mine a couple of times, no issues.

If you can afford to drop that much bank on a mod that will last you a couple years, or be fixed for free, if you get the extended warranty, I'd say go for it. It seems like it would be a good investment, if you can justify dropping that much cash at once.

Where I live a Provari costs the same as two cartons of cigarettes. How long would two cartons of cigarettes last you?
I think Provari's are pretty inexpensive.

that is thinking too logically... you are within the ECF realm... logic does not exist here.

members of this forum would rather buy lower cost items.
they most likely started vaping because the couldnt afford bottom shelf cigz... and not for the health benefits...

Remember there are two kinds of vapers....in the same sense as there have always been two kinds of smokers.

Depends. I was in your shoes and thought maybe I should just get a provari. I didn't. I bought an SVD which when dropped put a chip in my brickwork on my porch.

I am happy with my volts, spinners and SVD. I see no reason for a provari. Then again it is your cash... One thing is apparent, it has to be a good device as for how the people rave about it. But.... that doesn't mean nothing else is good. I happily chain vaped for 2 hours this morning on my Vision Spinner with a cheap knockoff tank that I rebuilt. Volts have lasted more than a year... Spinners are going on a year and year plus.. SVD is nearing month 3 or 4.

If you want something dang near indestructible get a premium mech mod and kick it.

If you term it as a habit to get rid of habit that one would basically step on the cigarette .... with the bottom of their shoe and walk away from it, it would be silly to pay 150-200 bucks for a provari.

It is always as how one looks at it.

I would say yes, get a Provari. When I first started vaping I was kind of against getting one because I didn't want to just jump on the bandwagon... Well, this was foolish because I wasted my money on two mods that I never use anymore because I wasn't satisfied with them. When I got my Provari I wanted to kick my own *** for not getting in the beginning.

    Speaking of being stepped on,
My Provari has been trampled by cattle many times driving it as much as 3" - 4" into the soil.
It has been lost buried in sand, mud and a mixture of poo for hours at a time several times, once over night.
It has been run over by a polaris UTV loaded with 50lb sacks of feed.
It has fallen off my pickup hit and tumbled down a gravel road going 10 ~ 30+ mph several times.
It has been run over by both tires of tractor once.
It has been left in the back of my pickup rolling around when driving to and from town.
It has been left in direct sunlight on a black surface all afternoon during the summer.
It has had a dozen or so delivery devices broke off of it leaving their threads inside the 510 connection.
It has been carried around & brought to me when asked by my dog.
It has fallen in a water trough 3 times and remained there for a couple minutes under water until I realized where it went.
It has been left in the rain and soaked with sweat, diesel & motor oil.
It has fallen off a 6' ladder onto concrete more times than I can remember & once from 12.5' onto concrete.
It survived a direct short while it was standing on a piece of steel I was welding.
It has been so covered in grease, sand, mud, blood and cow poo that it was unrecognizable.

Try that with any other APV especially the cheap Chinese versions and let us know how it works out for you.

It has never failed to fire, it doesn't rattle, both threads are as slick as the day it was new, it has never been back to provape for service, it still vapes like the first day I got it.
The only thing that Ive had to do to it is clean it up, dry it out and normal maintenance.

I do believe I got an extra special one though, the finish has barely a mark on it.
To me, as far as vaping goes there is nothing less expensive to own than a Provari.

I was gonna make a post asking about what mods you guys would recommend, but in typing a list of features that I want (mainly ruggedness) I realized that I was describing a Provari. I'm not a hobbyist and I really only look at what's available when it comes time for me to replace my current setup. Is the Provari still the godsend that it was when I started vaping, or are there cheaper alternatives now? I've become frustrated by eGos failing on me and I'm looking for a battery that I'll never really have to replace. Is the Provari worth its price, or am I just that behind the times?

    Thanks!

Even though it is a Provari, sooner or later your luck is going to run out. Why don't you get a lanyard or something? It will end up lost, and maybe you'll notice it when you are spreading manure in the spring (G).

OK, you think this is too much for a PV, that's fine, then you probably have no appreciation for tools either. I buy mostly Mac and Snap-on now, why? Because they work and don't break! I'm tired of busting my knuckles with a ratchet that slips, a wrench that wont hold or a screwdriver that slips! If you think there isn't a difference, then I'm sorry, you haven't used a Mac or Snap-on tool! My time and effort are worth the price I pay for them!
I also consider a flashlight a tool. Most on here would cringe at the thought of buying a $140 flashlight, but I carry one daily! HDS Systems: EDC High CRI 120 lumens flashlight, EDC Clicky Flashlight, EDC High CRI Flashlight, EDC-E1S-Hcri There is a video of the owner of this company throwing one at a wall for two hours solid, it still worked! I carried one for over five years before it crapped out. Not really sure what happened or why, but it would kill a battery with the power off over night! I contacted Henry, the owner to inquire about this. He said to send it in. Mind you, I bought this second hand, it had been surf fishing at 4am in the Gulf, buried in a snow bank for two days, rained on, stuck in 120 deg heat and so on, it was USED hard! After I sent it in I received an email, Henry couldn't repair it, I had my choice, either a replacement, or $140 store credit, no questions asked! Lifetime warranty!
My Provari crapped out, constant errors, I dealt with Provapes CS and tried their fixes to no avail. I sent it in and they fixed it. Problem was it was like pulling teeth to find out what had happened! Again, fixed under warranty, no questions asked! But I still wanted to know. I had it back for three days before I was given the answer that I had left a tank on it too long (as in three months!) and juice had gotten onto the board and corroded it! Not their problem I'm an idiot, but they fixed it none the less!
Yeah, I'll scrap and scour to come up with the money, but I'll buy quality when I can thank you!
